Hi guys,

I want to suggest to have 1 topic with all Madonna sales and charts. Today I find Madonna-info everywhere... but everywhere a little....

No topic on the whole internet is COMPLETE!

I could find in UKMIX perfect chart analyses of the UK-Chart and the Billboard charts, but what about all the other countries????? (like Germany, Italy, France, Australia, Canada etc etc etc????

Is it able to put all these chart and sales information from "Holiday"(1984) to "Love profusion" (2003) and "Madonna"/"First Album"(1983) to "American Life" (2003) in only ONE THREAD????

Both Billboard Charts and the riaa include soundtracks if they are credited to the artist.

Soundscan does not do this.

If we follow billboard/riaa, then we should add 2m for Evita, giving Madonna a total of 24.8m and moving her above Enya.

This would also move Whitney Houston into the list by including the Bodyguard and giving her a total of 20.9m.

The new Madonna album is bound to be certified so its only a matter of time before her riaa total is 60m.

I would say Shania's soundscan numbers are much higher than that. She has 47M in shipments and I would assume her soundscan total should be around 40M.

To my knowledge, Madonna has had 64 songs released as A - sides in the UK and US.

Seems to me, 64 is the ideal number for a Box Set.

Shania's soundscan total last week was 32.7 million. This is a totally up to date figure.

As MJDangerous has pointed out, UP has only shipped 5.5m.

Hello There,
I was working out Female Acts, with Most Number 1 Weeks, in a Calender Year. (UK Charts). By combining the Singles & Albums Number 1's, for each Year.

Madonna has had 10 UK Number 1 Singles & 8 Number 1 Albums - so far - but has never been Number 1 for more than 10 Weeks in any one Year.

10 Weeks in 1986 - 2 Singles/1 Album

10 Weeks in 1990 - 1 Single/1 Album

Madonna's biggest Selling UK Year was 1985 - 8 Top 5 Hits, and 2 Top 10 Albums. However, she only spent 6 Weeks at Number 1, that Year - 1 Single/1 Album.

Celine Dion has done it the longest for a Female Solo Act - 14 Weeks in 1995 - 1 Single/1 Album. (ABBA have done it the longest with an Act containing Females - 23 Weeks, in 1976 - 3 Singles/1 Album. The Spice Girls, the longest as an ALL Female Group - 20 Weeks, in 1997 - 4 Singles/2 Albums).

Mariah Carey's Best Year was 1994 - 9 Weeks - 1 Single/1 Album.

However, neither Celine, nor Mariah, has had as many UK Number 1's as Madonna - or spent as long at Number 1 - over all - 46 Weeks - so far. 21 Singles Weeks/25 Albums Weeks. (This is if we count 'Evita' as a Madonna Album, and UK Chart Books do, as do Chart Sites).

She has had, far and away, the most UK Top 10 Hit Singles, for a Female - 55 so far - if we count 'Holiday' 3 times, and, 'Crazy For You', twice, as they were both Top 10 Hits more than once.

'IF 'Hung Up' gets to Number 1, it will be her 11th UK Number 1 Single, and the 10th with REAL ABBA Music in it, to make Number 1. She samples 'Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!', on it. It will be the first UK Number 1, (IF it gets there), with REAL ABBA Music in it, since, 'Super Trouper', in 1980. (As opposed to the 1992, and 1999, ABBA Covers, Number 1's by Erasure, and Westlife).

If, 'Confessions On A Dancefloor', makes Number 1, it will be her 9th Number 1 UK Album. Bringing her level with ABBA, & Queen, and making she, and the 2 ABBA Ladies, the only 3 Women to sing on as many as 9 Number 1 Albums. (Only Elvis Presley, The Rolling Stones - 10 each - and The Beatles - 15 Number 1 Albums - will be ahead of Madonna, then).
