    ELTON JOHN - TINY DANCER
Silver Certification (Single) 01 July 2016
    UNIVERSAL MUSIC (MERCURY)
    Released 26 March 2007

    They forgot Your Song certification;
Or the one certified Silver is not The duet with Safina (2002), But The originale; because Your Song has sold more than TD.

    BPI certification awards marks

ELTON JOHN - ELTON JOHN LIVE
Silver Certification (Album) 01 March 1979
    PICKWICK (Unknown)
    Released 01 January 1978

    but what album is this?

ELTON JOHN - LONDON & NEW YORK, 1978 (September?)
ELTON JOHN LIVE COLLECTION. 1979 (March?)

They are both published by PICKWICK, but they are just reissues of LIVE&THERE.
I don't understand the BPI award, I think it was for the London&NewYork album, because they say "SILVER certification on March '79", so I can't imagine an award like this for an album just released (I think LIVE COLLECTION was released by March '79), but I don't know....can you confirm this?
The also say "release 01 January 1978", so maybe they don't know the day, but the year was 1978, like LONDON&NEWYORK!

It's GOLD certified by BPI, but it was in October '77

    Nice.
And yet, no BPI certifications for him, as Sir Elton John.
UK forgot its legend? Last certified award was in 2014 for GH 1970-2002!
    Shame!

Yes. vinyl had less space for songs than a cd, of course.
Blue moves was a double lp, then a single cd, then a double cd.
But this seems it had not happened for GYBRoad Vinyl Sales.
It was first a double lp, then a double cd, then a single cd, now a single + double + box set cd

Yes, it should be certified in America as a double album, but only because it was released in the "vinyl era" as a double set.
It runs under 100 min so if it would've been released after that then it wouldn't have been eligible for a double cert ( see the case of Aguilera's Back to Basics set for example; it's a 2 CD set but runs under 100 min and it was not from the vinyl era, thus making it ineligible for a double cert).

Blue Moves is then , eligible

I'm very pleased too about news certs, but, another time, I have to say that only RIAA updates those kind of awards: where's BPI?
I mean, Elton John is a british legend, how is possible BPI always doesn't certificate his work? Singles like original Your song is clearly SILVER status at least or Don't go breaking my heart now a PLATINUM status (even OOC said that), and albums like Goodbye yellow brick road (with 2014 re-edition) and Rocket Man greatest hits are much more than 1xPLATINUM status; so, we're talkin' about understimate sales and certifications in USA, but we have to talk much more about understimate in UK, his home,
    A shame.

    - Elton john album just GOLD, HONKY CHATEAU just PLAT, 171170 not certified.

    - GYBR was certified as a single even in vinyl Sales it seems

-And they not count LION KING as an elton CD.

-Also LIVE in AUSTRALIA (was approx 1.200k + 500k soundscan until 1995) and GREATEST HITS II (last certified in 1998, 5xPL) and ONE NIGHT ONLY-G.HITS (730k in 2001) are near another certification, possibly.

Anyway, i´m very pleased and excited about the new certs. Some of his records seem to sell on and on.
If the old catalog (Elton John, Tumbleweed, Honky Chateau, Captain Fantastic) would be re-certified Elton would have a higher sales level than Billy Joel and Jacko definetely.
Because Billy has certifications with no relation to effective sales. He benefits from GREATEST HITS VOLUME I & VOLUME II (1985) which is certified by 23 million as a double LP. It went 4x Platinum in April 29, 1991, when soundscan began tracking (counted as one CD). In the soundscan era it only sold 3,474,000 by Jan 2006. But nevertheless it already went 21X Multi-Platinum in August 2, 2000 - a miracle!!! Maybe they not only changed in counting twice but certified it as a 4-CD box set ... I don´t know. Since then there where other Best-Of LPs to follow and they replaced the whereabout LP and you never saw it again on any charts. But not enough: It went 23X Multi-Platinum in October 26, 2011. Ridiculous.
Jacko has all LPs certified correctly. So there is no dark field such big as it is in the case of Elton John. According to effective sales Elton would be all time #6 infront of both of them.

Here´s a comparison by Chris Molanphy | September 17, 2008: It shows how many double albums benefits from RIAA´s system, counting each sold unit twice.

    THE RIAA-APPROVED, CORRUPT ALL-TIME LIST

29 Their Greatest Hits 1971–1975, The Eagles

Well, i've explained my point of view .. With cases.. Elvis AND Beatles, well, because their discography is immense. But there are also some over-certified artists in my opinion in the top30 and top10, looking at The catalog charts that i read from years, and from soundscan Sales. But it's not The topic here.

    - Digital singles are undercertified, he has just Tiny Dancer AND Your Song as Platinum Singles. Bennie AND Rocket man ( they were > 900 in 2013) areThe next ones. But think at all The Gold ones.
-Album from 1970 to 1972 are undecertified (Elton John, tumbleweed, honky chateu). Last time The all other catalog was certified was in 1998.
    - And Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, his best selling album, was never certified as a double album.
    - Total Sales doesn't include 10xPlat Lion King album + other projects with lion king songs.
So, i think in The top 30 Elton is one of The more undercertified .
