"Black Ice" moves 3-1 in its ninth week on the survey, which it led for four weeks in late October and November. It moves 6-3 in Denmark and 7-5 in Switzerland, holding at No. 5 in France.
I wonder if this is because of the European stadium concerts was announced for the summer of 2009.

          AC/DC #1 IN COMBINED SALES

AC/DC, Lil Wayne, Taylor Swift Are Closely Bunched Atop Leader Board

          December 18, 2008

All the attention showered on AC/DC this year in anticipation of the Hall of Fame band’s first album of new material since 2000 appears to have fueled a widespread desire to pick up the band’s previous releases. The Aussie rockers’ combined sales around Black Ice made them the year’s top-selling act overall. The results are sure to generate all kinds of opinions about the effectiveness of AC/CD’s longstanding digital holdout. Some will attribute the winning total of 3.4 million units to the unavailability of the band’s catalog in downloadable form—make that legal downloadable form—while others will ask how many more sales on the current and past albums would have resulted from the band’s presence in the iTunes Store, Amazon MP3, et al. You’ll note that the most high-profile digital Grinches of all are represented here as well, at #17.

            • Some quotes from the Danish newspaper Ekstra Bladet:

              Nov 7th

^Black Ice sold 6,700 in the 2nd week in Denmark

              Nov 14th

^Black Ice sold 5,000 in the 3rd week in Denmark, 3rd week at #1.
#40 on the Danish album list sold just 350 copies :-?

I didn't find anything on first week sales

                  • It's not sure. With this week, it will be 300/400k more copies sold, for a total of 3.5 or 3.6 million. But in the same time, AC/DC will sell 100/200k more copies, for a total of 3.6 million.

Albert Music, the Aussie label home to AC/DC, has renewed its exclusive licensing deal with Sony Music Entertainment Australia. The new long-term arrangement covers all Albert Music catalog, digital content and future CD and DVD releases in Australia and New Zealand.

Alberts' existing partnership with Sony delivered one of the biggest hits of the year Down Under, AC/DC's "Black Ice", which topped the chart after its October release and has gone on to shift 350,000 units (seven-times platinum), according to Sony Music.

It's the highest that a mainstream hard rock album has placed in a year-end top 10 in Nielsen/SoundScan history. This is the second year in a row that a Wal-Mart exclusive has appeared in the year-end top 10. Eagles' Long Road Out Of Eden was #3 for 2007. AC/DC's 1980 blockbuster Back In Black ranks #116 for the year, with sales in 2008 of 374,000 copies.

                                                    By Paul Sexton, London

Billboard's pan-European sales charts show a sixth aggregate week atop European Top 100 Albums chart for AC/DC's "Black Ice" (Columbia/Sony BMG), as fellow Columbia act Beyoncé's "If I Were A Boy" gets a third non-consecutive week at No. 1 on Eurochart Hot 100 Singles.

The AC/DC album climbs 6-4 in Hungary, 7-5 in Austria and 7-6 in France, and stays ahead of Il Divo's "The Promise" (Syco Music/Sony BMG), which moves back 3-2 on the composite chart. That's helped by moves of 2-1 in Sweden and 4-2 in Holland. Enya's "And Winter Came" (Reprise/Warner Music) finishes the year in the No. 3 spot, down a place as it falls 1-2 in the Belgian region of Flanders.
