            • Looks like Bohemian Rhapsody is a hit. An 'A' cinema score with the general public and an 8.4 on IMDB should guarantee the movie gets a good run through November which includes the thanks giving weekend. It should comfortably exceed 300 million dollars worldwide and perform similarly to 'A star is born'. Also I'm super pleased that the soundtrack is performing well and Queen are doing major business on ITunes and some large increases on Spotify.

Billboard 200 Chart Moves: Queen Scores 17th Top 40 Album With 'Bohemian Rhapsody' Soundtrack
                11/3/2018 by Keith Caulfield

Now, let’s take a closer look at some of the action on the rest of the Billboard 200:

                — Queen, Bohemian Rhapsody (Soundtrack) – No. 22 — Queen collects its 17th top 40 album on the Billboard 200, as the Bohemian Rhapsody soundtrack bows at No. 22 with 24,000 equivalent album units earned. Of that sum, 12,000 were in traditional album sales.

The companion album to the film of the same name collects familiar highlights from Queen’s career, including a handful of tracks from the band’s performance at Live Aid in 1985 -- the first time the recordings have been released in audio form.

                  • I like 'Seven Seas Of Rhye'. I wish that it had been in the Film and on the Soundtrack. It should have been far bigger
than No.10, in the UK, in 1974.

it looks like Queen will get a bigger Sales boost from the Film, than ABBA got from either 'Mamma Mia!' Film. That
is how it looks from the perspective of Global and European iTunes...

Of course 'Bohemian Rhapsody' has the advantage of having people who can actually sing in it! As well as 'real' Queen
                    vocals and instrumentation.

"Bohemian Rhapsody" is the champion of the box office this weekend.

The Queen biopic took the No. 1 spot with an estimated $50 million haul in North America and $141.7 million globally. That's a great opening for the music biopic genre, and great news for 20th Century Fox, which spent $52 million to make it.

'Bohemian Rhapsody' Stuns With Second Biggest All-Time Opening for a Music Biopic

                                      11/5/2018 by Joshua Bote

                                      Alex Bailey/Twentieth Century Fox

The film raked in $50 million last weekend in North America, plus another $72 million internationally.

Freddie Mercury biopic Bohemian Rhapsody had an exceptional weekend at the box office races.

The hotly-anticipated biopic -- starring Rami Malek as the Queen frontman -- arrived out of the gates with an astounding $50 million on its opening weekend in North America, plus another $72 million internationally. Notably, Bohemian Rhapsody boasts the second-largest start of all time for a music biopic even when adjusted for inflation -- only trailing behind N.W.A biopic Straight Outta Compton at $60.2 million.

Rhapsody's astounding performance at the box office comes after a tumultuous period leading up to the film's release, including criticism that the film erased Mercury's queer identity, production that came to a screeching halt late last year and accusations of sexual assault and improper on-set conduct leveled against the film's original director, Bryan Singer -- who was replaced mid-production.

Still, there's plenty to celebrate. The release of Bohemian Rhapsody has also revived interest in the iconic rock band's music. Sales of its soundtrack have given Queen its 17th Top 40 album on the Billboard 200 with 24,000 equivalent album units earned -- 12,000 of which were through traditional album sales. The music video for "Bohemian Rhapsody" also drew more interest leading up to the film, averaging 1 million views per day last week on top of the over 670 million it had already accumulated

It's a kind of magic as Bohemian Rhapsody stays top of UK box office

Muscular Freddie Mercury biopic reaches a stunning £20m as Mike Leigh’s passionate Peterloo rallies support in the north

                                            The winner: Bohemian Rhapsody

Dropping just 11% from its opening session, Bohemian Rhapsody delivered chart-topping, second-weekend earnings of £5.75m, taking its total after 12 days to a stunning £20.4m. Cinema operators who had bullishly projected £30m for the Freddie Mercury biopic prior to release are now looking as if they were being cautious.

Only five other films this year managed £5m in their second weekend of play: Black Panther, Avengers: Infinity War, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, Incredibles 2 and Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again. Among those titles, only the Jurassic World sequel has failed to crack £50m at UK cinemas – the others are the year’s four biggest hits so far.

Bohemian Rhapsody opened in the US at the weekend with a muscular $51m. Global tally stands at $94m. Japan opens the film this weekend.

I think this Billboard chart week is up to last Thursday. The day before the film was released in the US so the upsurge in sales won't appear until the charts next week (which run from Friday 2nd November to this Thursday 8th November.

The OST has done better in the UK and Ireland so far because the film was released a week earlier.

The problem with the OST is that multiple albums in the States are seeing a rise in sales so they will be split between 3 or 4 albums.

                                                        • The total points total on Kworb is still going up - it's currently at 8,818! Nearly 3,500 points above Lady Gaga at number 2 - I thought it would have come down a bit after the weekend and then rise again next weekend when the film is released in 14 other countries - the impact this has had on their back catalogue is mind blowing!

Bo Rap currently at 14 on the worldwide Spotify chart..

BTW slightlymad I didn't know that Mexico was such a big Country for Queen. Amazing how it's impacted all over the world. I thought Europe, Australia, the US (to a lesser extent) and Japan would see good numbers but unsure on anywhere else. I'm glad to be wrong.
