More than a year ago, I remember posting the following peak positions for Queen in Portugal:
The Works: #1
A Kind Of Magic: #3
The Miracle: #3
Innuendo: #1
Greatest Hits 2: #1
Live At Wembley '86: #1
Made In Heaven: #1
Queen Rocks: #27
Greatest Hits 3: #4
Queen On Fire: #9
These were posted by a Queen fan on a Queen Portuguese site. The guy spoke like he knew what he was talking about although, while searching for a source to confim them, I took it with a "pinch of salt", like British generally say.
Well, I have found new information:
Portugal
15 August 1986
Nº 01 – GAL COSTA - "Bem Bom"
Nº 02 – V/A - "San Francisco"
Nº 03 – QUEEN - “A KInd of Magic”
Nº 04 – PETER GABRIEL - “So”
Nº 05 – FREI HERMANO DA CÂMARA - "O Melhor de...”
Nº 06 – JEAN MICHEL JARRE - "Rendez-Vous”
Nº 07 – MADONNA - "True Blue”
Nº 08 – GENESIS - "Invisible Touch"
Nº 09 – COCK ROBIN - "Cock Robin"
Nº 10 – BRYAN FERRY/ROXY MUSIC - "Street Life"
The guy who runs the blog Viva80s told me: "#3 was the highest position achieved by Queen with this album here!".
7 March 1987
Nº 01 – MARIA BETHÂNIA – “Dezembros”
Nº 02 – NUNO DA CÂMARA PEREIRA – “Mar Português”
Nº 03 – RUI VELOSO – “Rui Veloso”
Nº 04 – CENTURY – “...and Soul It Goes”
Nº 05 – QUEEN – “Live Magic”
Nº 06 – MINISTARS – “Ministars”
Nº 07 – EUROPE – “The Final Countdown”
Nº 08 – GNR – “Psicopátria”
Nº 09 – XUTOS & PONTAPÉS – “Circo de Feras”
Nº 10 – PAUL SIMON – “Graceland”
Also from that site: "Tudo isto ajudou imenso para sucesso de "The Works" e para as vendas que o disco seguiu alcançar. O álbum andou no cimo dos tops, praticamente em todo o mundo, mas em Portugal chegou mesmo ao Nº 1 do "Top Disco". Já na America, depois do vídeo-clip de "I Want To Break Free" a banda foi totalmente posta de lado pelos gringos americanos."
From Billboard, I was also able to know that "Made In Heaven" was #1 during at least 8 weeks in Portugal from 1995 to early 1996.
This means that three of the peak postions posted by that Portuguese fan on that Queen forum are now confirmed as truth. Therefore, there is a good chance that he was right with the other albums.

79 (93) Queen - Absolute Greatest
To all my fellow Queen fantatics below is a youtube link to a very rare demo of the Queen track 'Jesus' from their first album, this is well worth a listen as it features some wonderful guitar playing by Brian May that never featured on the official release.

Releasing live albums year after year is beginning to get a little dull. As a die hard fan I would buy anything the band put out, but, an Anthology would be great. A double album Anthology would be even better, I thought the Beatles putting out 3 different albums was a little unnecessary and actually rather boring! I want to hear something new, unreleased songs etc.

Queen archivist Greg Brooks has recently declared, on the website Queenheaven.it, that the issue of the Anthology is premature because, first of all, many other live concerts have the priority. He finally said that Queen members are participating in a new project which could be published within this year (probably, "Hammersmith '75"...).

I wanted to take this opportunity to thank MJD for his superb website, worldwidealbums.net. Unfortunately, as he has said in his own words, 'he is starting a real office job'. I will miss his updates from before 2009, especially in the archives section which, I think really needs some updating especially with Michael Jackson!
Also when I click many of the archive artists to look up individual album sales I get all this French stuff come up, for example, type in Queen, where as with other artists there is no problem
Well once again, thankyou MJD for your endless dedication and work!

HUR thanks for posting that, unfortunately though there weren't figures for many of the acts, would love to see them. I was surprised at Take That being so high, theyve only released 2 albums this decade, anyway, good to see Queen so high.
