Of course, it's absolute fantastic and majestic achievement - all the journey from the start was like a huge, wise planned strategy, every little aspect of it: promotion, trailers, the date of release, opening weekend in USA, the best biopic of all times, total gross (and counting), No 1 or TOP 5 in almost all countries (I mean the chart of 2018 movies), and then started awards season... who could think about it in September/October?

It wouldn't have got best movie, there would have been an uproar! I think 4 out of 5 is incredible. It'll be a film that will sit in the heart of millions all over the world for generations to come and it has brought Queen's popularity to a level that is above and beyond where they have ever been before. You can check out the stats all over the internet. Youtube, Spotify, iTunes etc and even physical sales are doing incredibly business. If the BR soundtrack was released 20 years ago it would be at about 12 million copies by now.

      • I wonder, how much the success in Oscars will boost chart performance, especially in main markets: UK and USA?
Could we hope for No 1 in Billboard TOP 200, after almost 39 years from the last time?
I think it will affect sale in USA more, but would it be enough to conquer the TOP???

        • I'm not sure. On kworb Lady gaga's stats seemed to have increased more than Queen's today, so let's see. It would be amazing to have the BR soundtrack at number 1, in the US and the UK! One final hoorah!

          • I'll be honest, I thought Queen's performance at the Oscars was pretty generic. They've played those songs so many times, it seems a little bland even if it is great. Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper's performance was more heart felt, even though I far prefer Queen's music.

            • For me, this Queen's performance was true majestic and powerful with those two classic songs, everybody knows. You should look to those faces of the actors and movie stars - they were in ecstasy!!!
I think to most of them, if not all, it was their first experience to see Queen perform live !!!
And Freddie's appearance was very well done, though I was expecting it It looked like Freddie Mercury as the king congratulated and welcomed everybody to the annual 91th Oscars ceremony! Believe me, that was epic!

                    213 118 025, around $20 k less.

So during this weekend on international market the movie collected just around 15,6% less, comparing to previous weekend. That is a good result.

                      >Bohemian Rhapsody enjoys, you guessed it, another weekend in the Top 10, its sixteenth-consecutive, delivering yet another great hold. It surpassed Alice in Wonderland to crack the Top 20 All-Time Chart. And, having sold 8,610,213 admissions now, it surpasses Finding Nemo to climb to the 24th position on the Most Attended Films Chart. It's likely to see one more boost at the box office following its four Oscar wins on Sunday, so don't expect it to slow down just yet. It'll probably approach ¥13 billion ($116/117 million) with nearly 9.5 million admissions by the end of its run.

After this weekend, Frozen achieved one more nice weekend before it plummeted (home video release), and then it's basically just Spirited Away and Your Name. worth tracking from weeks 18 and onward. Spirited Away and Your Name. managed to add over ¥4 billion more, incredibly, to their totals from this point on. Frozen and Howl's Moving Castle go on to add a little over ¥1 billion more to their totals. And Avatar was almost finished at this point, adding just ¥320 million more to its total. Bohemian Rhapsody will possibly see an increase in its seventeenth weekend, maybe, due to its Oscar wins, but it will probably drop fairly quickly from week 18 onward.

So during this weekend on international market the movie collected just around 15,6% less, comparing to previous weekend. That is a good result.

I guess you take some comfort that ASIB was adjusted downward to $610,148 for the wkd adjusted upward and now downward

That gives BR now officially the highest multiplier in Japanese history! Yeeeeeeeeeesssssa!!!!!!

                              • So what will be interesting is how much the film will take this week globally. Last week was around about 6 million dollars globally. I'm guessing on a figure of around about 15 million, which will take the film to 876 million globally next Sunday evening. Braca, Lawyeris, any thoughts on this?

In recent years, the Best Picture Winner has gone on to see another 11%-13% jump in its domestic B.O.

Tomorrow is when studio distribution departments hammer out their theater counts with exhibitors for the following weekend. Requests should also be coming in for Fox Searchlight’s The Favourite (current B.O. $32.1M) after Olivia Colman’s surprise Best Actress win, and 20th Century Fox/New Regency’s Bohemian Rhapsody despite the fact that the pic is already on DVD/VOD. The pic which won four Oscars including Best Actor for Rami Malek, has a stateside cume, propped by sing-along versions, of $213.1M. The pic has been in release since Nov. 2.

Need to know the new number of theatres in the US first before making any kind of guess I think

Especially combined with another possible win at the Japanese Academy Awards.
Just to confirm, is the home video release for Bohemian Rhapsody still scheduled for March 14?

I'm guessing on a figure of around about 15 million, which will take the film to 876 million globally next Sunday evening. Braca, Lawyeris, any thoughts on this?
Last week was around $7m. Even if movie got 4 Oscar awards, I don't see $15m gross during this week. It would be very good if it gross $12m, good - if $10m, a little bit disappointing if $8-9 m.
