Bohemian Rhapsody continued its incredible run in fifth place with an estimated $6 million in its sixth weekend of release, bringing the musical biopic to $173.5 million to date. The film received another boost last week due to its two Golden Globe nominations, for Best Motion Picture – Drama and Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama for star Rami Malek.

Bohemian Rhapsody grossed an estimated $29.2 million overseas this weekend, bringing its international total to $423 million. That makes it Fox International’s highest-grossing film of 2018, surpassing Deadpool 2‘s $417.9 million total internationally. Its global cume is a stunning $596.5 million.

Fox’s Bohemian Rhapsody earned $6 million (-26%) on its sixth weekend for an absurd $173.5m domestic cume. Yeah, provided Rami Malek’s Golden Globes nod (along with the film’s nomination for Best Drama) is a sign of things to come, this box office queen will top $200m domestic by the end. And the film has now earned $423m overseas, bigger than the foreign grosses for either Deadpool movie, for a $596m worldwide total as it prepares to cross the once-unthinkable $600m worldwide milestone on a $55m budget. With Bohemian Rhapsody topping $600m and Venom soaring past $850m, what else is there to say except “Is this the real life, or is this just fantasy?”

Just amazing. I thought I was being optimistic predicting 590 million dollars last week and its pushed through to 596. Its in the land of Franchise blockbusters now. It will pass Ant Man 2 next week. How much further can it go? I think it could pass 100 million dollars in South Korea, 60 million in Japan and 35 million in Italy. I keep under estimating this movie.

Imagine. We are in 2018, streaming does not exist and cd is still dominating makets. That would have been crazy times for catalog sales!!

It started off grossing more that the remainder of the top 10 titles in Italy on opening night
On Friday it was still doing that.
If it keeps this up for a while longer it will certainly pass 20 million before xmas.
I would never have thought it would get to where it is now in South Korea (population about 52m) . ....so who knows where it will end in italy

The myth of Freddie Mercury is very much alive in Italy: over 4 million over the weekend

The myth of Freddie Mercury, despite being almost thirty years since his death is alive and well in Italy. Bohemian Rhapsody (watch the video review), thanks to a monumental Sunday of 1.3 million euros, it reaches 11.7 million, the fourth installment of the season, but is preparing to become the best grossing ever by the end of next year weekend. The fight for the second place wins The Grinch (watch the video review), which collects 544 thousand euros on Sunday, 1.3 million at the weekend and reaches a total of 3.5 million. Pieraccioni has to settle for third place, with a weekend of 1.1 million and a total of 3.1 million, which makes it the best Italian film of the season. The new entries are not very incisive: Alpha (watch the video review) closes with just under 600 thousand euros, while La casa delle dollole (watch the video review) collects 423 thousand euros. In the middle there are Fantastic Animals - The crimes of Grindelwald (watch the video review) that reaches 12.4 million euros, consolidating the first place (which will last shortly, because the Queen arrive ...).

Below is part of the write up for the past weekend at the box office, US and then international, taken from boxofficeguru.com. The only films left that have grossed more this year are Marvel, DC, Pixar franchise films.

Spending its sixth consecutive weekend in the top five, Fox's Bohemian Rhapsody continued to pull in the crowds with an estimated $6M, off 25%, pushing the domestic haul to an incredible $173.6M. Sales around the world are still on fire with the $600M global mark about to be crushed. International markets have now kicked in $423M with solid holds putting the worldwide sum at $596.6M. Look for the $700M mark to be surpassed too as this film is playing like a super hero movie. Paramount collected an estimated $5.6M for its comedy Instant Family, down 22%, with $54.2M to date.

BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY IS NOT THEREFORE MONDAY: THE 12 MILLION RECEIVER EXCEEDED
The film on Queen exceeds The Incredibles 2 and approaches Hotel Transylvania 3.

The classic Monday with the handbrake pulled does not prevent Bohemian Rhapsody (watch the video review) to cash in another 330 thousand euros and get to 12.1 million, surpassing The Incredibles 2 (watch the video review). By now the victim of Freddie Mercury and Queen will be Hotel Transylvania 3, while before the weekend Bohemian Rhapsody will become the best cash in the season against Fantastic Animals - The crimes of Grindelwald (watch the video review). Scattered the proceeds of the other films: The Grinch (watch the video review) resists the second place, getting just 1000 euros more than Se son rose (watch the video review) of Pieraccioni. The two films have progressed since the day of their release and are both well over 3 million euros in total.

In Japan the triumphal march of Fantastic Animals continues - The crimes of Grindelwald, which has retained the first place with 4.7 million dollars and a total of 34.2 but especially of Bohemian Rhapsody, arrived at 37.5 million and that will close the year with at least 50 million. The film has had four weeks of uninterrupted growth and has before it a further two months full of commercial exploitation.

In South Korea he won Default, which came to 20 million dollars. Even here, Bohemian Rhapsody is making crazy numbers: after a month it is still second and has reached 55 million dollars, the third best collection of the year behind Along with the Gods: The Last 49 Days and Avengers: Infinity War

I don't think this has been mentioned here yet, with the phenomenal success of the movie the announcement of a Q+AL USA Tour in 2019 seems to have gone under the radar on here. Below is the official press release, I have followed the previous Q+AL American tours as far as ticket sales go and believe me this tour has blown any other tour out of the water. With the ability to track sales by looking at ticket availability through Ticketmaster this tour has sold unbelievably well in its first 5 days, I would hazard a guess that 85-95% of all tickets have sold out already. The initial LA Forum and Madison Square Garden shows pretty much sold out on the day of release so extra shows have been added with many other arenas close to sell out already.

QUEEN are HUGE in America at the moment!

                                  The Rhapsody Approaches…July 2019

Queen + Adam Lambert to debut brand new Rhapsody touring show across North America next year with 23 giant shows from July through August 2019

Tickets on sale December 7th at http://www.LiveNation.com

Los Angeles, CA (December 3, 2018) – The soaring success of Bohemian Rhapsody – the Freddie Mercury/Queen movie that is set to become the biggest grossing music biopic of all time – has proven that the public’s love for Queen remains as strong as ever. Longtime fans and recent converts will be thrilled to discover then, that Queen – original band members Brian May and Roger Taylor, teaming up once more with longtime frontman Adam Lambert on lead vocals – will return to North America next year. Produced by Live Nation, the epic 23-date arena and stadium Rhapsody tour is set to run from mid-July through late August with an all-new concert experience.

Tickets for the Rhapsody tour go on sale to the general public starting December 7th at LiveNation.com at 10 AM local time.

Going under the Rhapsody header, the six-week tour will debut a brand new larger-than-life production. Stufish Entertainment Architects’ set designer Ric Lipson says: “Queen + Adam Lambert’s Rhapsody tour will, once again for them, expand the parameters of what a live music experience can be. This new show promises to be their most spectacular yet, an innovative and interactive celebration of the continued power of Queen’s music.”

The tour follows an acclaimed run of 10 sold-out shows at the MGM Park Theater, Las Vegas in September 2018 and will kick off July 10th at Vancouver Rogers Arena. Stop-offs include some of the most history-packed venues in the US and Canada, including The Forum in Los Angeles (the last venue the original line-up played in North America on September 15, 1982) and New York City’s Madison Square Garden (the site of past Queen glories, including a memorable performance from Queen + Adam Lambert on July 17, 2014). It will wrap August 23rd at Spectrum Center in Charlotte, NC.

Announcing their Rhapsody tour Roger Taylor said: "We are ready for America and raring to get back in the saddle.”

Adam Lambert said: “We have been designing a brand new visual spectacle that will reframe these iconic songs and we are excited to unveil it!”

With Brian May adding: “This is a great opportunity. Our last tour featured our most ambitious production ever and got us our best notices ever. So we decided to rip it apart and get even more ambitious! Watch out, America! "

Since Adam Lambert first shared the stage with Queen for the 2009 American Idol final, his dynamic performances have reinvigorated the band and delighted fans worldwide. Their first full show together – starting as they meant to go on - thrilled a half-a-million-strong crowd in the Ukraine capital city of Kiev in June 2012. Since then May and Taylor’s musical fireworks have been matched by Lambert’s vocal prowess and stage presence, making for an explosive combination. Over 180 gigs later, the partnership has proven a commercial and critical triumph, playing to enraptured full houses in every corner of the world.

Completing the tour line-up are long-term collaborator Spike Edney on keyboards, Neil Fairclough on bass, and Tyler Warren on percussion.

Never known to rest on their laurels, Queen on this Rhapsody tour will unveil a stage show as experimental and rule-defying as the hit-packed Queen back catalogue. The band have worked with the creative partners behind the eye-popping News Of The World 2017 tour – Ric Lipson of Stufish Entertainment Architects handling set design; Rob Sinclair on lighting design; and Sam Pattinson of Treatment Studio behind the video content – to develop an unmissable show.

When Freddie sang The Show Must Go On all those years back, even he couldn’t have guessed that Queen music would still be storming the charts in 2018. Next summer, the stages of North America will be well and truly rocked again. You can’t help thinking Freddie would be overjoyed.

My apologies, I don't know how I came up with 77 million on Bohemian Rhapsody for North Korea. I'm actually more interested in Japan now, it has a population of 125 million, against South Korea having just 55 or so. The potential for Japan is massive, especially considering we have had 4 weeks of growth and they love their Karaoke, it's embedded in their culture.

                                          From Music Week.
Universal Music Group (UMG) has announced that Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody is officially the world’s most-streamed song from the 20th Century, as well as the most-streamed classic rock song of all time. Taken from Queen’s 1975 album A Night At The Opera, the single has surpassed 1.6 billion global streams across all major platforms. According to the Official Charts Company, the song has 992,243 sales since 1994. In 2004, it was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame.

The track has also benefited from the biographical film Bohemian Rhapsody, which has become the highest grossing music biopic in history. In the UK, the OST peaked at No.3 and has 133,811 sales to date. It remains in the Top 10.
