Well, if you get their certifications from the BPI site, prior to july, 1992, you will notice that Queen were certified for shipments of 8,600,000 (including "Five live ep" as part of their albums sales).

That puts their minimum sales total at 19,292,124 overall. But that doesn't count plenty of sales before 1992, as most of their albums were certified within days of going on sale and never updated after that. For example, "The miracle" was certified platinum 4 days after it was certified, but managed to sell 480,000 in 1989 alone (being one of the best sellers of that year).

Overall, they sold 24,000,000 copies in UK. This is just 4-5 million less than The Beatles there.

Queen on the Billboard Catalogue Chart

    Top Pop Catalog
    Issue Date: 2009-02-14

This Week, Last Week, Two Weeks Ago, Weeks, Title, Artist, Peak

29 31 13 Greatest Hits: We Will Rock You, Queen 29
    37 35 30 759 Greatest Hits, Queen 2

It's a shame Queen have sales split between these 2 versions as combined I think they would be Top 20 or even Top 10 most weeks.

Also, interesting claim on the magazine "Guitar player (1983):

    "
The group toured America and Europe in early 1977, and in the summer taped News Of The World. The LP topped the charts in the U.S., Holland, Belgium, France, Israel, Canada, Brazil, Ireland and Mexico. "We Are The Champions" backed by May's "We Will Rock You" became the biggest-selling single in Warner Brothers/Elektra Asylum history. Following a serie of business fiascos soon afterwards, Queen's members decided to manage themself. "We didn't particulary want the job", May recalls, "but we decided it was the best way to get precisley what we wanted and control our own destiny"."

This week in Canadian Album charts:

    Canada

    5wks (65) 81 CLASSIC QUEEN

    126 wks (74) 84 GREATEST HITS

In UK album charts - Queens Greatest Hits is at 129 down from 102. Other sales figures for the week: 2627 copies sold Frank Turner (72)

1081 copies sold John Martyn (161)

So Queen probably sold nearly 2,000 copies

Yes, specially in Germany and Italy. And yes, obviously their compilations took the biggest share out of all of their sales, even if "The miracle", "Innuendo" and "Made in heaven" did fairly well on the charts.

How much did one LP cost in the early 70ies?

Because, for example, Sheer heart attack was Gold disc in UK because sold for more then 500.000Pounds. so with the cost of a single unit we can estimate how many discs were sold...

    Queen Are Coming To Singstar

I know the following Quote highlighted in bold is untrue but it is in an official Queen Press Release

Rock Legends Queen get very own SingStar® title for PLAYSTATION®3 and PlayStation®2.

Want it all? You’ve got it now!

City/date: This March, rock lovers can recreate the excitement and magic of Queen’s iconic stadium concerts in their own living rooms thanks to SingStar® Queen from Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) – an experience that lets you grab a microphone and belt out the greatest hits of the legendary group’s chart-topping, 30-year career with your friends. Exclusive to PlayStation® and hot on the heels of the hugely popular downloadable Queen SongPacks in SingStore, SingStar Queen will be available on both PLAYSTATION®3 (PS3™) and PlayStation®2 in PAL regions, giving every SingStar a shot at Queen home-stardom.

The tracklist is packed with the classic songs that made Queen one of the world’s favourite bands – a group so popular that they sold more than 300 million albums and had a worldwide hit musical created in their honour, We Will Rock You. Bohemian Rhapsody and We Are the Champions are there – as are Another One Bites the Dust and Don’t Stop Me Now. Whichever track is your favourite, you’ll be lining up to grab the mic and step into the trainers of the legendary Freddie Mercury to raise your living room roof.

With stellar tracks from the ‘70s. ‘80s and ‘90s (25 tracks on PS3 and 20 on PlayStation 2), SingStar Queen will rock SingStars who like to go solo, SingStars who like to duet and, quite possibly, the neighbours next door when they hear your performances coming through the wall.

And – for those PS3 SingStars downloading tracks from SingStore, loads of SingStar Queen Tracks are available to download right now!

Get ready for SingStar to rock you on PS3 and PlayStation 2 with the epic music of Queen this March.

The release date for UK is March 13th, and for the rest of PAL territories March 18th. The release date for US/Canada has not been confirmed yet, but will follow shortly.

Here’s the entire SingStar Queen Track list:

    PlayStation 3
    A Kind of Magic
    Another One Bites The Dust
    Bicycle Race
    Bohemian Rhapsody
    Breakthru
    Crazy Little Thing Called Love
    Don’t Stop Me Now
    Fat Bottomed Girls
    Hammer to Fall
    I Want It All
    I Want To Break Free

    Killer Queen
    One Vision
    Play The Game
    Radio Ga Ga

Could the 300 million quoted be a total for album and single sales?
