Yes, but other than that, great figures there, Slightlymad. It would be interesting to note that music club sales (which represented anywhere between 15% and 25% at some point) and some retailers aren´t sampled by Musicweek, so the actual amount of copies shipped is actually higher.

If we go by minimum shipments, Queen sold at least 19,292,124 copies overall.

    Some code for Brazil:

    Queen - Collection 2
    AA40000
    AB????
    AC15000

Queen - A Night At The Opera
    AH9000

"Collection 2" has already shipped 55,000 copies at least, with "AB" missing. The total could be at around 70,000 overall. Enough for a pltinum award.

Slightlymad, the figure you have quoted for 2008 is actually the number of singles Queen sold that year. They actually sold 363,830 albums in the UK last year according to Musicweek.

Is it possible for you to post Celine's details on her page? (i.e. her Music Week position - she must've been a top selling artist - my love ultimate essential collection sold nearly 400k last year) Thankyou in advance!

Yes, in that aspect, it is true. Specially, seen as their catalog raised a lot in other countries like Germany, Italy, Spain, and UK.

But still, comparatively speaking, France was never their biggest market, and they were still able to sell as much as acts like Elvis Presley or Phil Collins, and more than Abba, Led Zeppelin, AC/DC and many more in terms of overall total sales.

That's not bad but I was expecting much more to be honest. I have only check full sales of Jackson/Madonna/Queen up to now, and comparing to Jackson for example is kinda shocking. 'Thriller' sold more than PC, Bad/Dangerous/Off The Wall sold respectively as much as GH/GHII/LAW86, Invincible, History CD1 or History 2CD would have been all their biggest studio catalog album if they were a Queen album and even Blood On The Dancefloor would have been their second biggest.
That is without even checking his compilations sold in that time, which sold almost 600k together and canabalized a lot of his sales. I was expecting sales in the 50-5k range rather than 22-3k.

That said, when I see the biggest Beatles studio album at 30K, it isn't bad. Even if the Beatles sold loads of compilations.

Thank you, Robbie. Wonderful information, very valuable.

I think, although not completely sure, that there is a slight chance that their new album (released under the moniker "Q+PR") may have been excluded from their totals. I mean, according to your guessed figures, their two lead compilations ("Greatest hits 1" and "Platinum collection") sold abut 245,000 copies combined. This means that when we add "Greatest hits 2" (which did fairly well over the last quarter in the top 200 and the catalog chrts) and "The cosmos rocks", we get roughly 350,000 copies.

I know their catalog sales are down, but i find hard to believe they sold only a mere 13,000 copies with all of their other albums put together.
Their other albums are now quite hard to find, I've never seen them on sale for quite some time.

I've sent you a PM about other Queen info...
I think that the fact their songs sell so well on digital format as individual tracks may also affect their catalog sales, as they are sometimes regarded as a "singles band".

    Thank you, Robbie.
