Good figures for PC. The rest to be honest is disappointing, except their Live albums. ANATO sold only 22k and still their biggest studio album, Innuendo is third with just 10k in 6 years.

Their catalog as a whole still sold 607k during those 6 years, slighty over 100k per year.
Wow thank you, MJDangerous. Great figures. I think their figures may tend to be slighty lower according to this source than those provided by IFOP. For example, "Platinum collection" was certified double gold for sales of 200,000 in 2004 (in november), and continued to do well over 2005 (selling 47,000 copies). With further catalog sales, I thought the box set was more likely at around 300,000 copies by now.

Still, are you disappointed?. I was expecting even less for some albums. This means they sold an estimated 541,437 on catalog if we remove albums released after 2003.

some info about Queen from the UK end of year charts from 2008...

Queen were the 46th best selling singles artists with total singles sales of 295,316. The biggest seller was Don't Stop Me Now which was the 135th best selling single of 2008 (with sales of about 75,000). They were the 47th best selling albums artist with total album sales of 363,830. Biggest selling album was Greatest Hits, number 135 for the year (sales about 120,000), with GH I,II and III at number 149 (sales at about 105,000).

The sales for Don't Stop Me Now and the two Greatest Hits collections are "guesstimates" but are within 5,000 sales of actual sales figures.

I was wondering if anyone knew how many copies of 'The complete works' by Queen were pressed worldwide. It was a vinyl boxset of all their studio albums up until 'The works', and was released in 1985. Thanks.

Yes, but that was their DVD. It has now sold at least 71,000 copies in UK. The album probably sold 5,000-10,000 copies.

Lets hope it rises a bit HUR. Its been out of those charts all over Christmas. On another top 200 Pop Catalog Chart that are leaked occasionally, the We Will Rock You Edition was above the usual Hits collection - probably this is a reason why its not been doing as well lately - sales are being split between the 2 albums - I personally prefer the Original UK version to the 1992 US version...
True. I would like to see how much Queen sold in both UK and USA last year. A source promised me to give me the retail sales for "Platinum collection" and "Greatest hits 1" in UK during 2008. Hopefully, we will know just in case that Queen don´t make the annual musicweek issue. In USA, I think they sold 450,000 copies last year.

    My estimates for UK:
    -Greatest hits 1: 119,000
    -Platinum collection: 108,000
    -The cosmos rocks: 70,000
    -Greatest hits 2: 35,000+

That makes it roughly 332,000 with these 4 releases. But I don´t think this will be enough to make the annual top 50.

In the UK album chart this week, now have full access to top 200 chart data

    109. (109) GREATEST HITS (Queen) (this has kept at the same position as over late Christmas/New Year but sales gone down alot in that week - all I know is that Mariah Carey at number 157 sold 3,040 copies so Queen must have sold over 4,000.

    187. (RE) THE COSMOS ROCKS (Queen + Paul Rodgers) A surprising re-entry
I dont know how long this was in the top 200 after it dropped out of the top 100 due to the withdrawal of Chartsplus - hopefully should be getting the missing 6 weeks info. soon so should get full details..

    "Freddie Mercury unvergessen
    Queen-Musical kommt nach Köln
Köln (ddp-nrw). Mit einer eigens auf das deutsche Publikum zugeschnittenen Version soll das Queen-Musical «We will rock you» am 12. Dezember in Köln Premiere feiern.

It reads that Queen sold 150 million album worldwide, including 15 million in Germany alone.

Queen always were huge in Poland, but I'm sure that sales weren't big. Records cost too much in Central and Eastern Europe and CDs were something luxurious there before mid-90's. That's why Polish music shop imported only a few copies of one album.

Anyway, those countries released then some of the best-selling international albums under licence from major record companies, on vinyl records and rarely on cassettes. But print run always was limited. For example in Poland Queen released four albums in that way: "The Best Of" in 1980 (exclusive Polish compilation), "Innuendo" and "Greatest Hits II" in 1991 and "Live At Wembley '86" in 1992 - all four only on vinyl records.

Almost every DVD of Queen or Freddie solo is Platinum in Poland, which means 10,000 sold units. But their only certified CD albums in Poland are "Made In Heaven" with sales of at least 100,000 units and "The Platinum Collection" with sales of 75,000 boxes.

Remember that major record companies released their catalogues in Central and Eastern Europe in the mid-90's. Earlier people from those countries had to buy records, which were imported mainly from Germany. That's why sales of "Greatest Hits" or "Greatest Hits II" weren't huge there.

It's the second time in Poland when Queen released there an exclusive album. The first time was in 1980, when they released there their first compilation of hits "The Best Of". It was a year before their first international compilation "Greatest Hits" was released globally.

    CHAMPION!
We Will Rock You Scores Biggest West End Week of 2008

Queen and Ben Elton’s long-running musical We Will Rock You has emerged the champion of West End shows in end of year figures released today.

The ‘rock theatrical’ show, which has already achieved the distinction of becoming the longest running entertainment at The Dominion where it has continued to play for over six and half years last week achieved the highest number of paid admissions in one week for any West End show in 2008.

In the New Year week, commencing December 29, We Will Rock You set a new weekly admissions record for the year, attracting over 20,000 ticket buyers across six days.

“It is a testament to the incredible word of mouth on the entertainment value of the show,” said a producer spokesperson. “There isn’t another new musical which has lasted as long as Queen & Ben’s show, and last week’s figures show that across the Christmas – New Year period it was the No.1 choice among theatre-goers”."

Thank you, John. Finally some, indeed. Rather poor, considering their compilation sold so well last year and that "Collection 2" shipped 40,000 copies on its first week. Further evidence that "Q+PR" aren´t that big a draw.
