Thats a pretty amazing total. What is incredible is that its US only. Nielsen soundscan only do this for music inside the US. I'd imagine outside the US its considerably more, especially when you look at Queen's album sales and the BR box office takings. 2020 will be good for earnings since they played a lot of sold out stadium shows, the US were arenas.

        • Official Albums Chart Top 100
          21 August 2020 - 27 August 2020

The UK's Top 100 biggest artist albums of the week is compiled by the Official Charts Company, based on sales of CDs, downloads, vinyl and weighted audio streams.

          14 12 907 Queen ~ Greatest Hits
24 RE 123 Queen ~ Greatest Hits II ****special HMV vinyl release

Retailer HMV this week celebrated the latest in their series of Vinyl Week promotions, stocking a series of exclusive clear blue vinyl limited edition releases of a number of classic albums. Two of them sold enough to chart, most notably Queen's Greatest Hits II which returns to the chart at No.24 in what is perhaps startlingly its highest chart placing since its original chart run in 1991/2. Its 2,595 chart sales are largely thanks to the 1,389 physical copies it duly sold, although streams of its tracks accounted for well over a thousand more. For that reason David Bowie's classic Let's Dance (also part of the promotion) returns to the chart at a mere No.55, a full 1,460 of its 1,565 sales accounted for by physical product.

          • Here is an edited version of the Press Release for the New Q+AL live release 'Live Around The World' due Oct 2nd. As a successful touring entity it will be interesting to see if this transcends in to chart success. Live albums do not usually sell in great quantities but it will be interesting to see if this release manages Top 10 in any of the major territories, possible Top5 in UK, Holland, Italy and Australia? maybe Top20 in USA and Canada? Time will tell!!

If successful this may lead to the release of a NEW studio album, could this be testing the water for future plans?

Press Release: Queen + Adam Lambert - 'Live Around the World' Album - October 2nd

Queen + Adam Lambert live to date: 218 shows - Total audience: 3,659,232

But here’s one thing they haven’t done until now: Queen + Adam Lambert to release first LIVE album

Queen + Adam Lambert ‘Live Around the World’ for release worldwide October 2nd 2020

Since their first appearance together in 2009 when Queen members Brian May and Roger Taylor appeared as guests on the finale of the eighth season of American Idol on which Adam Lambert was a contestant, the combination of Queen + Adam Lambert has gone from strength to strength becoming one of the world’s biggest drawing touring bands. Their most recent tour of Oceania saw them selling out to massive audiences, with a single show at Sydney’s ANZ stadium drawing a record crowd of over 60,000. To date, the band has played to a worldwide audience approaching 4 million.

Had this been different times, Brian, Roger and Adam would have just ended a further tour with a colossal run of 27 shows across 9 European countries. However, the arrival of COVID-19 forced their imminent UK and European summer tour to be postponed until next year. With this in mind, Queen + Adam Lambert looked to other ways to console the almost half a million disappointed fans already holding tickets.

This is when they turned first to YouTube. No strangers to the platform with 12.5 million subscribers already following them, the band presented a special Queen + Adam Lambert ‘Tour Watch Party’, an hour-long show of live highlights from previous tours across the world. The positive engagement from fans worldwide showed that despite the global blackout of live shows, the show could still go on. But it wasn’t just the 500,000+ viewing fans who were impressed, so were the band themselves.

The set presents a compilation of concert highlights captured the world over personally selected by Taylor, May and Lambert from over 200 shows they have performed with several featured here becoming available for the very first time. These cover concerts from Rock in Rio, Lisbon, to the UK’s Isle of Wight Festival, Summer Sonic, Japan, selected UK and North America tour dates, and - from one of their very last performances before lockdown –the Fire Fight Australia benefit show. All formats include the band’s entire 22-minute Fire Fight Australia appearance in which they performed Queen’s original history-making 1985 Live Aid set in full: Bohemian Rhapsody, Radio Ga Ga, Hammer To Fall, Crazy Little Thing Called Love, We Will Rock You and We Are The Champions. While even Freddie Mercury’s iconic Ay-Ohs feature.

The twenty tracks featured include firm Queen fan favourites like ‘Don’t Stop Me Now’ and ‘I Want To Break Free’ as well as rarities such as their versions of the Freddie Mercury penned “Love Kills” and “I Was Born To Love You”. The live album comes in CD, CD+DVD, CD+Blu-ray and Vinyl versions, with the DVD and Blu-ray featuring extra performance footage which include a Roger Taylor ‘Drum Battle’ with drummer son Rufus Taylor, and Brian May ‘Last Horizon’ guitar solo.

Queen + Adam Lambert’s only previously released track, their lockdown version of “You Are the Champions,” all the proceeds going towards the Covid-19 Solidarity Response Fund for The World Health Organization, was viewed close to 4 million times in its first month on YouTube.

Queen + Adam Lambert’s postponed 27-date UK and European Rhapsody Tour is now rescheduled to begin 23 May, 2021 in Bologna, Italy with its final date to be played in Madrid, Spain on 7 July. The full set of dates includes a 10-day residency at London’s The O2 Arena in June.

            • The tour grossed nearly $45 million in 10 shows in Oceania. Impressive numbers.

The asian shows probably did over $20 million and this would make "The Rhapsody Tour" the highest-grossing tour of 2020.

                  • Catalog Albums/Billboard 200 Chart Update – August 29, 2020

                    Queen’s #1 Run Reaches 20 Weeks - Longest No1 run since 2000

Queen’s Greatest Hits is #1 once again this week on the Catalog chart, extending its #1 run to 20 weeks and logging its 30th #1 week of 2020. It’s only the fifth such run in Catalog chart history, with the other four occurring between 1996 and 2000. Creed’s My Own Prison has the longest run at 33 weeks, from March through October 2000. That album was #1 for 38 weeks in 2000, the record for weeks at #1 for an album (and for an artist) in a single calendar year. Also, once again Bob Marley & The Wailers’ Legend is the #2 ranked Catalog album; Queen and Marley have been at #1 and #2 for sixteen straight weeks. BB200 rankings for the two albums are #29 and #44 respectively… Only three other albums have been #1 Catalog in 2020; the record minimum for a calendar year is five, set in 1998. One of the other three is Drake’s Scorpion, briefly pushed to Catalog status at the beginning of this year before being pulled back to current status. During its three-week run at #1, Queen’s Greatest Hits was the #2 album each week… The other #1 Catalog albums of 2020 were Michael Buble’s Christmas, on January 4, and Joe Diffie’s 16 Biggest Hits, on April 11.

                    Thanks to Miguelito

I believe this is the history of the UK awards
Since 1 January 1989, the number of sales required to qualify for Silver, Gold and Platinum discs has been 200,000, 400,000 and 600,000, respectively. Prior to this, the thresholds were 250,000 (Silver), 500,000 (Gold) and 1,000,000 (Platinum).

so these 5P (4p plus 1p under the old rules) equals 3, 4 million minimum

                            • braca2 you are correct - 3.4m minimum. Well spotted.

The platinum cert for 1991 was a minimum 600,000. But it actually sold over 900,000.
Robbie says sales (in all 3 versions) are around 3.975m by now. Fantastic.

                                • Catalog Albums/Billboard 200 Chart Update – September 12, 2020

Chaotic Record Store Week on Sales Chart, but Queen Nabs 22nd Straight #1 Week on Catalog

Queen’s Greatest Hits (159/36) is one of the top 10 casualties on the catalog sales tally, dropping 3-15, and ends its run in the top 10 of catalog sellers at a record 99 weeks. The previous record of 86 weeks was set by the Grease soundtrack in 1997-1998, when the Catalog chart was an album-sales only chart. Other runs of more than half a year in the top 10 that came to an end this week, each of which was a record long run for the album in question: Guardians Of The Galaxy: Awesome Mix Vol. 1 (180/36), falling 2-13 to end its top 10 run at 71 weeks; The Beatles’ Abbey Road (98/36), dropping 5-14 and wrapping up a 49 week top 10 run; and Creedence Clearwater Revival’s Chronicle (177/35), sinking 10-26 to see a 35 week top 10 run come to an abrupt end.

Despite the drop in catalog sales ranking, Queen’s Greatest Hits remains #1 on the Catalog chart, extending its #1 run to 22 weeks and getting its 32nd #1 week of 2020. In fact, Queen increase their lead over the runner-up, Bob Marley & The Wailers’ Legend, from 17 to 25 positions on the Billboard 200 this week (#31 versus #56). The Queen/Marley tandem at #1/#2 remains for the 18th consecutive week.

                                  Queen's Worldwide Chart Performance
                                  UK - 15 (22) Greatest Hits
