    Hi HUR,

I have these figures for Platinum Collection from 2000. Should be able to get 2006 sales in a week or two.

    Queen - Platinum Collection
    2000 --- 51,882
    2001 --- 41,340
    2002 --- 844,115
    2003 --- 250,709
    2004 --- 153,170
    2005 --- 157,929
    Total Sales --- 1,499,145

Not too sure about 2004, I think I have 2 Sales Quarters Missing.

Jimmypage59 mate, do you have total sales for the Platinium collection in UK?. I know tha sales are low in this moment of the year, but it was very successful in the last years.

I know this from music week:

    2002: between 700.000 and 800.000
    2003: 268.000
    2004: 218.000
    2005: 149.000

And it had been released in 2000.

In 2006, sales were not that big, but some weeks ago it sold 14.000 (it may have sold about 50 k during the whole year.

Iīm not sure, but I know that until some months back "A night at the opera" was at 41 k, "Sheer heart attack" at 24 k. Sales of Greatest hits 2 and the Platinium collection may have been very good.

    Estonia albums charts this week:

    -The platinium collection: N 9
    -Greatest hits 1: N 52
    -Greatest hits 2: N 64

Last year, "the very best of Freddie Mercury" reached number one, and also the DVD and "Lover of life singer of songs".

But a bizarre thing was at week 47 in 2006:

-"News of the world": N 21
    -"The miracle": N 23
    -Greatest hits 2: N 75
    -Greatest hits 3: N 91

Great Sales figures again considering no new releases or compilations (No 27 Year End), Queen actually sold 640,000 albums in the UK last year so does anybody have a detailed breakdown of this total?

    Hello, thank you. Nice name.

Well, I didnīt know about that, but it could be a good explanation. The song "I want it all" is not listed on the Greatest hits, but in Classic queen (if Iīm not wrong), but maybe people donīt like its whole track-listing, and they go for the box set.

Did I miss something?. Why is it selling well?.
Hi there HUR, the only reason I can think of for the huge interest in the Hits 1+2 boxset in the USA is that Dr Pepper are using I Want It All in there current advertisements. This song isn't on the GH Cd so perhaps thats why people are buying/downloading the gold boxset. What do you think?

And in 2006, Queen sold 993.000 copies in USA, and 640.000 in UK. Thtaīs a total of 1.633.000. Their catalog sold well in countries like Italy, Spain and other.

And besides, Live at wembley sold about 46.000 copies during 2006. The total was at 251.000 at the end of 2005, which brings it up to 297.000. Dispite that, I have a figure of over 267.000 from 2005, which includes formats not counted in the previuos figure. This means that Live at wembley sold surely over 300.000 copies in UK.

Well, I have foun Queen total soundscan for 2004 and 2005. In 2004, Queen sold 942.000 copies, and in the following year, a total of 986.000. Thatīs a total of 1.928.000.

In Japan, Queen sold 1.780.001 in 2004, and at leat 190.000 during 2005. This figures includes the gold certification for Queen jewels 2 in that year, and the sales of Queen jewels 1 according to oricon. This brings the total up to 1.970.000 between both years. So we can say that Queen sold over 2 millions copies in Japan.

And in UK, we donīt have a figure for 2004, but we know that the Platinium collection sold 218.000 copies during that year. The sales in 2005 were 620.000. Therefore, Queen sold at least 838.000 copies. if we found the sales for 2004, Queen would be at about 900.000 copies between both years.

So Queen sold about 4.828.000 copies between those countries.

That would normally be a cool poll win but with a very overated and overexposed boyband being heavily involved, takes the gloss off, somewhat!!!!!!

If this was a world tennis poll,it would be lke Tim Henman finishing 5th,with not a mention of Borg or Laver!!!!!!!

    Cheers Cidermaster

PS Do you know who Borg and Laver could be????

Queen have edged out The Beatles in a another 'greatest band ever' poll, this time conducted by BBC Radio in the UK.
The eclectic rockers found themselves 400 votes ahead of The Beatles, in a poll of over 20,000 listeners. Respondents were asked to rate five bands, the others being The Rolling Stones, Oasis and Take That, who finished third through fifth respectively.
Queen's virtually unquestionable reputation as one of the finest live acts in rock history helped get them over the line, with respondents asked to vote in categories such as showmanship and live performances, as well as lyrics, songwriting and originality.
Undercover's resident psychic, Serena, claims she was able to communicate with the late Freddie Mercury about the result. He reportedly told her, "Darling, let me tell you that over the course of 2007, some 8,942 different acts will be declared the 'greatest band ever' in various time-filling radio polls. Now leave me alone, Mr Lennon lost the bet and owes me a wax."

I'm a little bit surprised, 'cause the Beatles allways seemed untouchable. It just proves what a huge recognition of Queen these days in UK, if they can match even the Beatles! Besides, it's not the first time, when Queen overcome the Beatles.
    On New Year's Eve, 2002, Virgin Radio counted down the full chart of Top British Artists, voted by britons and Queen toped this poll too:}

Its only a pity (and shame to britonsthat Queen cant match the Beatles by number of No 1 singles and number of weeks, spent there (also albums in this regard). I can't understand this, really.
