    • Queen - Platinum collection - 93,000

Source: havenforum (Dave). It is, on his list, #75 on year-to-date chart.

Great that Live at wembley re-entered the top 20.

      • The OCC assure me, that they don't add - and never
have added - Sales of 'The Platinum Collection',
to either 'GH1', or 'GH2', in the UK.

They say that The OCC Computers treat all 3
Compilations, as 3 totally different Queen Releases,
& that this means that they should not be added
to each other in any way.

        • Hello Colin. Is there any chance that you could send them a new message stating that it is virtually impossible this sold like 71k in just a few months because it didnīt chart any week inside the top 75 during that period?. It would be good to know what their reply is. Also you can also explain the fact that their "Greatest hits 2" is certified for sales of 2,400,000 since 2000, so even if it kept selling well, 3,700,000 for it look too hgh. What would they tell?.

Yes, and last year EMI Marketing australia informed that this album sold over a million copies while under contract with the Record label, which picked up their back catalog in 1984 ("The works" was their first album released with the company in that yaer). However, their Greatest hits 1 was released in 1981, where it peaked at #2 with 50+ weeks inside the top 50. Even in 2003 EMI was assuming this had sold well that mark with further sales before 1981.

It reaches number one after more than 5 years since its worldwide release. It has charted 97 weeks. This is their third number one DVD in that country, along with "Queen On Fire - Live At The Bowl" and "Montreal" in 2007. "Love of life, singer of songs", by Freddie, was also number one over there.

So this is a rather good week for their firt Greatest hits 1, as it charted in the top 50 in both Australia and Canada, and top ten in the pop catalog chart from USA (probably in the comprehensive billboard chart, fairly high).

                                Queen - Greatest hits 1 - 50,000 (gold)

Freddie Mercury - Living on my own - gold

Not that it is great, but at least it is something. They were both certified in early 90īs. The former in october 1992, and the second one in 1993.

                                • On UK album chart this week:

                                  94. (86) GREATEST HITS I II & III (Queen)
                                  112. (132) GREATEST HITS (Queen)

I think these 2 albums will see their positions rise in the next few weeks with the release of 'The Cosmos Rocks' by Queen + Paul Rodgers. Their catalogue sales should benefit quite alot from the promotion of that album and the forthcoming European tour....

                                  • Surprisingly, the guys are scorching up the chart on the german version of amazon at the moment, with a couple of album inside the top 1000. Not that it cares a lot though.

This is how it looked like yesterday, when I checked. There are other albums currently high, obviously, but these are some of the most important positions.

Hello Edwood. It is currently at #91 at the billboard comprehensive chart. Number 91 sold over 6k, while number 90 did 6,1k. So their Greatest hits sold actually 6k+ last week.

Yes, I agree. Sweden and Norway are the only two countries where it underperformed. Still, when it was certified gold in Sweden (for sales of 50,000), it was still selling, and actually ended at #85 on the year-end for 1992. In 2006, It re-entered at #57, so a good catalog seller. It easily sold 100,000+ copies over there.

No, I donīt think it was undercertified in 1992, as the album didnīt make the charts when it was first released back in 1981. Sweden wasnīt their best country, simply. Although, I have to say this album is easily a platinum by now with its massive catalog sales.

The charts started in 1975, and every single Queen studio album made it to the top ten, just like their "Greatest hits 2" is an all time seller. You can see this week that "Live at wembley ī86" is currently at #1 on the dvd chart. So they have a fanbase and did sell albums, but not as much as they did in the rest of Europe. Also in Norway, you can see they never had a number one, but then again they started having top tenner back in 1975 and all of their studio album from that point were also top tens.

Reason?. Honestly I donīt know. I think they were probably seen as too "pompous" by the general public in Scandinavia.

At least in Finland, they virtually sold as much as Abba, and both rank as the biggest bands over there. They had 5 number one albums, just like U2 and Dire Straits, which is more than any other band in Finland. In Denmark too, their album "Greatest hits 2" was certified 5 times platinum (for sales of 250,000).
