The biggest seller was Don't Stop Me Now which was the 135th best selling single of 2008 (with sales of about 75,000). They were the 47th best selling albums artist with total album sales of 363,830. Biggest selling album was Greatest Hits, number 135 for the year (sales about 120,000), with GH I,II and III at number 149 (sales at about 105,000).

The sales for Don't Stop Me Now and the two Greatest Hits collections are "guesstimates" but are within 5,000 sales of actual sales figures.
Is it possible for you to post Celine's details on her page? (i.e. her Music Week position - she must've been a top selling artist - my love ultimate essential collection sold nearly 400k last year) Thankyou in advance!

Slightlymad, the figure you have quoted for 2008 is actually the number of singles Queen sold that year. They actually sold 363,830 albums in the UK last year according to Musicweek.

                Comment

                • Yes, but other than that, great figures there, Slightlymad. It would be interesting to note that music club sales (which represented anywhere between 15% and 25% at some point) and some retailers aren´t sampled by Musicweek, so the actual amount of copies shipped is actually higher.

If we go by minimum shipments, Queen sold at least 19,292,124 copies overall.

                  Some code for Brazil:

                  Queen - Collection 2
                  AA40000
                  AB????
                  AC15000

Queen - A Night At The Opera
                  AH9000

"Collection 2" has already shipped 55,000 copies at least, with "AB" missing. The total could be at around 70,000 overall. Enough for a pltinum award.

                                        • How much did one LP cost in the early 70ies?

Because, for example, Sheer heart attack was Gold disc in UK because sold for more then 500.000Pounds. so with the cost of a single unit we can estimate how many discs were sold...

Yes, specially in Germany and Italy. And yes, obviously their compilations took the biggest share out of all of their sales, even if "The miracle", "Innuendo" and "Made in heaven" did fairly well on the charts.

Also, interesting claim on the magazine "Guitar player (1983):

                                                "
The group toured America and Europe in early 1977, and in the summer taped News Of The World. The LP topped the charts in the U.S., Holland, Belgium, France, Israel, Canada, Brazil, Ireland and Mexico. "We Are The Champions" backed by May's "We Will Rock You" became the biggest-selling single in Warner Brothers/Elektra Asylum history. Following a serie of business fiascos soon afterwards, Queen's members decided to manage themself. "We didn't particulary want the job", May recalls, "but we decided it was the best way to get precisley what we wanted and control our own destiny"."
