The only albums to surpass Cross Road since the awards began in 1996 are Celine Dion's Falling Into You (1996) and Let's Talk About Love (1997), which have both collected nine IFPI Platinum Europe Awards. Only three other albums have achieved same eight awards status; Celine Dion's D'eux (1995), The Beatles' 1 (2000) and The Spice Girls' Spice (1996).

        30,000 or 50,000?

"These Are Special Times" falls from #13 to #22 on the Holiday chart.

Itís weird to see the Holiday chart so soon. Maybe Holiday album sales are high enough to compile a chart? :-?

So ? RIAA has put several mistakes on his database in one time, True Blue, Emotion etc...
This is not hard to write in the wrong line in an excel document then keep the mistake for years, this happen to everyone.
D'Eux was certified 5xPlatinum when the album was already dead, it is impossible to say that this album sold 3m more, not even 300k ! The same goes for FIY.

                • Until the IFPI corrects that mistake, the album is offically certified for being 8x platinum, end of. No point in arguin, e-mail them if ya dont like it. Dont take it out on people who are simply quoting offical sources. Deux is 8x platinum in Europe, as officially stated by the IFPI.

It is not, only fans can believe such a sh*t. Until it doesn't appear in listings of IFPI, it is officially 5xPlatinum, end of.

                      • And until the IFPI say otherwise, its 8x platinum. Just like LTAL is 9x and FIY is 8x. Thats a total of 25x platinum awards for her 3 top albums in Europe, outstanding. On anotha note, Taking Chances will obviously get a platinum award but how long will it take i wonder? James Blunt took 3 weeks didnt he? Surely Celine can do it in 3 weeks to? Maybe 2 weeks?. And also, wonder how well it will do. The chart runs of the song seem to be gettin better so the album should be surefire success

They wouldn't "say", they just "reported", they wouldn't make awards to worship as there's no benefit for Billboar, Oprah, obviously the label gave the figures to Oprah and Oprah didn't use her brain and just copied and reported to audiences.

                                                ...
Having sold more than 180 million albums around the world since her American debut in 1990, Celine Dion is one of the most immediately recognized, widely respected and successful performers in pop music history. In addition to numerous US and international gold, platinum and multi-platinum certifications, Celine Dion has seen two of her albums -- Falling Into You and Let's Talk About Love -- each achieve RIAA Diamond status in recognition of sales of more than 10 million copies in the US alone (each selling 30 million worldwide). She has been awarded five Grammy Awards including 1992's Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal (for "Beauty and the Beast"), 1996's Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album (for Falling Into You) and 1998's Record of the Year and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance (for "My Heart Will Go On" [Love Theme from 'Titanic']). Both "Beauty and the Beast" and "My Heart Will Go On" received Best Song Academy Awards for their respective years of release.
In 2004, after achieving then-total global sales of more than 175 million albums, Celine Dion was presented with the World Music Award for the Best- selling Female Pop Artist of All Time.
