    France Best Selling Albums Ever:
    Update Part 3
    http://chartmasters.org/2017/01/france- ... te-part-3/

    Lionel Richie Back to Front (1992) : 1 180 000

It is impressive to see how much of a crossover Lionel Richie achieved during the 80s. R&B artists tend to do OK in France, but none truly reach super sales. The American star clearly did it, moving past a million units of his 1992 best of on the back of his 80s hits. A few years later, Truly, The Love Songs went 4 weeks #1 in the compilation chart too. Charting regularly up to 2008, although lower and lower, Back To Front held the position of the leading compilation of the artist in spite of various subsequent ones released. The overall popularity of Lionel Richie is going down though. During the 80s his albums were sitting various weeks inside the Top 10, from the 90s to 2006 he never went Top 10 again but granted the Top 40 with all his albums. During the last 10 years, his two LPs peaked at #79 and #134, highlighting his decreasing trajectory.

It would be great to see him back in the charts with some new stuff.

It was last certified in December 1985!

Cheap Motown couldn't even pay for 11xP!

                                  • That's what I thought too. 32 years after its cert for 10 million sales, Can't Slow Down could be 11 or even maybe 12 X platinum. The RIAA certifications for Motown records are not serious, as we know... When you think that Whar's Going On is the only Marvin Gaye's Motown studio album certified... And only gold !... And we could talk about Stevie Wonder too... A shame !

Plus: Lionel Richie debuts at No. 2.

At No. 2 on the new Billboard 200, Lionel Richie’s new live album Hello From Las Vegas arrives with 65,000 equivalent album units. Nearly all of that sum is album sales, powered almost entirely by sales generated from a concert ticket/album sale redemption offer tied to his summer tour. Richie last debuted on the chart way back in 2012 with Tuskegee, which bowed at No. 2 on the April 14, 2012-dated list, and then rose to No. 1 two weeks later (for two straight weeks at No. 1). In total, Hello From Las Vegas marks Richie’s sixth top 10 effort.

Hello From Las Vegas is the highest-charting live album on the Billboard 200 since Kenny Chesney’s Live In No Shoes Nation entered at No. 1 on the Nov. 18, 2017-dated list. Like Hello, Chesney’s set was also powered by a concert ticket/album sale redemption offer.
