Following a lot of demand, the incredible team over at Chartmasters have finally produced a brilliant sales breakdown for Iron Maiden!! Not sure if it's been discussed on this forum yet but the link is below....enjoy!
US 64k ; UK 45k ; FR 21k ; Germany + Canada 50k maybe ? = 180k for 5 countries
Yeah, You're pretty right. I've checked data of first week sales for an album ("Senjutsu") published by many local retailers. Random info (circa):
USA: 64,000
UK: 45,000
Canada: 12,000
Germany: 41,000
France: 21,000
Italy: 8 - 9,000
Japan: 6,500
Brasil: 9,000
Now we have over 191k
And just add the other territories of Europe including Scandinavia, Austria, Swiss, Benelux, Spain/Portugal, Eastern Europe where the first week sales were great with 22 - 25,000 and the other territories around the world (Oceania, Asia, South America etc.) As I know the first week (ten days in fact) sales were 240 - 250k in fact and Bruce Dickinson mentioned in September the very first week order for Senjutsu was around an half a million.
There were some problems with distribution chains in a few territories as South America, Oceania, Asia, some parts of Europe - It's obvious the data from World Album Charts wasn't complete as we know, so same was with more artists' sales this year. Hard times, but finally we may say the final result was in fact the 75% of TBOS in 2015. Finally 560k were sold around the world 'til the last weeks of December 2021 for "Senjutsu" (including +60k REAL sales in the first week).
"Senjutsu" went Gold in Czech Republic and Croatia. Great! I suppose a question of time is Austria, Germany and France - maybe Sweden or Finland too. We must wait a year or so. Hard times for the artists haven't been streamed in millions per day, especially vintage ones.
Generally it seems to be completely unbelievable how physical albums sales have dropped these days.
If Maiden be back to live concerts routine it probably would affect the album sales a lot.
