35 years ago IM spawned their masterpiece called "Seventh Son of a Seventh Son". The conceptual album is considered as probably Maiden's most elaborated incarnation and went Gold and Platinum around the world becoming their biggest commercial success in the '80s (release date: 11 April 1988). Today it's an essentional IM effort for some of their fans - the last one really amazing record. The band's seventh album since the release day went Gold & Platinum in 23 countries. Cheers!

Hi, sorry I just have to say. SSOASS was not not their biggest commercial success of the 80s, it was actually their least successful since ‘Killers’. Their most successful album was NOTB. It’s still a great album though and I’d say probably their last classic release!

OK, you've got right but I thought about charts positions. SSoaSS was the highest charted album worldwide bach in those days.Comment

Yeah it’s an interesting situation. If you look at their recent albums they go to number 1 all over the world but their sales are much lower than they were back in the 80s. Everything had become front loaded.

Yeah, generally today so called "number ones" means nothing in comparition with sales in previous few decades. And Iron Maiden isn't typical mainstream band with radio hits around and commercial policy. They still do a basic marketing strategy as they did in the '80s, but still fill arenas, stadiums and headlining big festivals around the world in their mid 60s of band's member average age. "Powerslave" album should be charted as No. 1 only the compilation which would never ever made this chart prevented Maiden's effort to do this one. Nobody's perfect even official charts.Comment
