      • Cashbox magazine from 5 may 1973 (page 41), wrote about Platinum awards presented by Warner Bros. Records (and not by RIAA, of course) for album that reached 1.000.000 copies sold.
Artists certified: James Taylor (two awards), Alice Cooper (three awards), Neil Young (three awards), Jethro Tull (three awards), Black Sabbath (two awards), America (two awards), Peter, Paul and Mary (five awards), Bill Cosby (five awards), and Dean Martin (three awards), as well as Arlo Guthrie, the Allman Brothers Band, Rod McKuen and Anita Kerr (for the San Sebastian Strings), Frank Sinatra, and Seals and Crofts.

At the time of this article, all their four albums were already platinum. The next one (bloody Sabbath) was also certified platinum Of course it was unofficial as the RIAA introduced the platinum mark only in 1976.

            • Hey, thanks! I do not deeply know the history of Black Sabbath. I would be curious at this point, to have a complete list of Platinums certified by Warner pre-RIAA. And, why not, pre-BPI ...

                              http://www.superdeluxeedition.com/news/ ... h-the-end/

Black Sabbath call time on their career by releasing their last show

The End is a celebration of Black Sabbath’s final hometown concert at Birmingham’s Genting Arena on 4th February, 2017. This farewell show is out in November in six physical formats, including a five-disc deluxe box set.

The deluxe box set features The End on DVD and blu-ray (both all region), double CD and something called ‘The Angelic Sessions’ on CD which is a bonus ‘intimate’ live session recorded at Angelic Studios days after their final live performance. You also get a 32-page perfect bound book, a metal pin-badge, replica tour laminate and three plectrums. It all comes in a lift-off lid box.

All visual formats apparently feature footage of the Angelic Sessions, but if you opt for the Blu-ray+CD combo edition it looks like the CD is also the Angelic Sessions, not a ‘highlights’ disc of the show, as you might expect. There is also a CD+DVD version.

You can simply buy standalone blu-ray or DVD and there is also a two-CD edition and 3LP vinyl, which obviously just feature the audio.

The End will be released on 17 November 2017.

A little over two years after heavy metal stalwarts Iron Maiden scored their fifth No.1 album with The Book Of Souls, they debut at No.17 (9,901 sales) with The Book Of Souls: Live Chapter. Despite its title, only six of the 11 songs on The Book Of Souls are among the 15 tracks on the live set, which was recorded in 2016/7 during their extensive world tour to support the release. There's more live metal in the form of The End, Black Sabbath's final concert in their home city of Birmingham. Also issued on the back of a No.1 studio album – 2013's 13 – it debuts at No.68 (2,312 sales).
