According to the US Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, Black Sabbath has sold 75 million records since 1970. I would'nt see this number increase until their entire catalog is updated with new certifications in the largest world music markets. I don't see that happening any time soon however, probably another 10 years or so.

The Very Beast Of Dio went Gold on March 11th.

Dio's first Gold disc since 1985!!!

I'm sorry, but this is bigger news to me than MJ getting his 28th platinum disc for Thriller

The Devil You Know was in the Top 15 on yesterday's UK sales chart. It's on course for a Top 40 debut. Possibly Top 30 depending on how it holds up over the coming days.

                                                  HEAVEN & HELL's 'The Devil You Know' Lands In U.S. Top 10 - May 6, 2009

"The Devil You Know", the new album from HEAVEN & HELL — the band featuring BLACK SABBATH members Tony Iommi (guitar), Ronnie James Dio (vocals), Geezer Butler (bass) and Vinny Appice (drums) — sold 30,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 8 on The Billboard 200 chart.

The video for "Bible Black", the first single from "The Devil You Know", can be viewed below. (Note: The video stream may not be available to some non-U.S. residents.) The animated clip was produced by Joseph A. Russo II and James A. Fino from 23d Films, Inc. and was directed byBen Ceccarelli. The epic song was one of the first songs written for the new album and finds the quartet of Ronnie James Dio, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Vinny Appice in top form. "When you start off with a blockbuster like that, it makes the rest of the album so much easier because it gives you a benchmark to measure the other songs against," says Dio.

Three years ago, Dio, Iommi, Butler and Appice reunited to record a trio of new songs for Rhino's "Black Sabbath: The Dio Years" before launching a highly anticipated and greatly acclaimed world tour under their new moniker HEAVEN & HELL. That set has since gone on to sell 143,000 copies in teh United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

HEAVEN & HELL will bring its wicked world tour to North America for a select number of shows this August. The band will start its summer headlining music festivals across Europe before bringing its macabre stage show of metal classics to North America starting on August 7 in Vancouver. Tickets for most shows go on sale the weekend of May 8. There will also be a pre-sale for all shows, except Baltimore, beginning May 6 at 10 a.m. local time. COHEED AND CAMBRIA will provide support on all shows except the Seattle date on August 8, which will feature NEUROSIS in the supporting slot.

HEAVEN & HELL made a rare in-store appearance Saturday (May 2) at Best Buy in San Bernardino, California. All four members of the group were on hand to celebrate the release of the band's new album, "The Devil You Know".

SUNSET STRIP MUSIC FESTIVAL 2009 to Honor OZZY OSBOURNE - May 5, 2009

The second annual Sunset Strip Music Festival (SSMF) is confirmed for Sept. 10-12, 2009. In addition to The Strip's six signature music venues hosting diverse music lineups, SSMF 2009 will also include an outdoor street festival component with the closure of Sunset Boulevard between Doheny Drive to San Vicente Boulevard on Saturday, Sept. 12, from 2 to 9 p.m. This is the first time a significant portion of The Sunset Strip has been shut down for a music event, and it will allow for outdoor stages and increased attendance.

Rock legend Ozzy Osbourne will be honored at a tribute event Thursday, September 10 that kicks off the three-day festival. The tribute event honors icons who have made an impact on the legacy of The Sunset Strip. On Ozzy's first U.S. tour with BLACK SABBATH in 1970, the band performed a five-night stand (November 11-15) at the legendary Whisky A Go-Go. Ozzy Osbourne's career has spanned four decades and his music is as relevant today as ever. The multi-platinum, Grammy Award-winning, Rock and Roll Hall of Famer has sold over 100 millions album worldwide — 50 with BLACK SABBATH and as many as a solo artist — and in 2003 was honored with a star on Hollywood Boulevard's Walk of Fame.

"We are extremely excited to honor rock icon Ozzy Osbourne, and we are thrilled the City of West Hollywood once again supported the Sunset Strip Music Festival," noted Todd Steadman, executive director of the Sunset Strip Music Festival. "This year's street closure will allow us to expand on the success of last year's inaugural fest and accommodate more fans and festival-goers."

Friday and Saturday nights of SSMF will feature live music performances from a mix of established and up-and-coming artists at all six venues (Cat Club, House of Blues, Key Club, The Roxy Theatre, Viper Room and Whisky A Go-Go). Saturday will feature a daytime street fest with multiple outdoor stage performances before the clubs open their doors for night performances, and the Mondrian hotel is also onboard for SSMF 2009 and will host a VIP cocktail event.

"SSMF is a great opportunity for us to celebrate The Sunset Strip's rich musical history. It also allows us to recognize the clubs and artists, new and old, who make Sunset Boulevard an international destination," stated West Hollywood Mayor Pro Tempore John Heilman. "Our first event created so much excitement and enthusiasm, and I know the upcoming event will be terrific."

                                                    For more information, visit www.ssmf.com.
