  • 'Closer to the Truth' sold 350,000 in the US by September of 2014 and since then we didn't get any official numbers, but I do doubt it sold additional 235k in less than 3 years?

    • its either worldwide or Sales+TEA+SEA

      Comment

      • It's a bit strange, to be honest, as Billboard doesn't usually mention worldwide sales (even less such a precise number) as only record labels talk about worldwide sales (shipments).

I though it could be SPS numbers, but the streaming numbers of the album (video and audio) are quite low (and those are global numbers, even less from US alone) and the digital sales of the singles were pretty low as well... it's almost impossible for that album to have so much TEA and SEA. Maybe Billboard posted wrong figures.

I don't know... Bur hopefully they're right and it's eligible for Gold in US.

That's the thing we are all in deamnd of!

          BTW, Billboard Current Boxscore shows that Feb 14, 22, 24, 25 numbers are the following: attendance - 14,977 / 20,438; revenue - $2,289,580.
Thus, the 1st leg overall results are: attendance 28,648 out of 35,763; revenue - $3,889,480.

.@Cher's Believe is the biggest selling single for a female artist in the UK ever!

            By Rob Copsey

Today (March 8) marks International Women’s Day – the annual celebration of the economic, political, and social achievements of women across the globe.

If there’s one thing the Official Singles Chart would be pretty dull without, it’s female singers, and to honour the musical achievements of women, we are counting down the UK’s Official Top 20 biggest selling singles of all time by female artists.

Leading the way is a woman who's pop career spans over 50 years: Cher. Her Number 1 hit Believe, which spent seven weeks at the summit in 1998, has sold 1.82 million copies in the UK (excluding streams). It's somewhat fitting that Cher tops this list; her latest reinvention as a prolific social media/anti-Trump activist has seen her become one of the leading voices in the music world for social and political change.

Sorry Alfiebot, it's sold 20,000 since then. Why they didn't include streaming i'll never know though.

The shows are averaging $40,000 more than the first 3 which is good, but the average audience is down from 4557 to 3744. With her appearance on The Talk we should see better numbers later in the year.

                    • Some old Cher chart tidbits from Billboard:

Two honorable mentions regarding musical mothers and sons: Cher has collected 12 Hot 100 top 10s, as well as five as half of Sonny & Cher. While her son Elijah Blue Allman has never reached the chart, as a member of Deadsy he peaked at No. 8 on Internet Albums in 2006 with the band's set "Phantasmagore."

As Keith Caulfield noted, it's Cher and Cher's mother alike now owning Billboard chart histories, as Holt enters Heatseekers Albums at No. 13 (and Top Country Albums at No. 43) with "Honky Tonk Woman." The set from the 86-years-young Holt was recorded in 1980 and had remained unreleased.

With Cher's son and mom charting, it makes it one of rare musical families with three different generations charting on Billboard charts!

Well, it's only 731 tickets not sold for 6 shows. That is 121 tickets per night. 95,5% sold out.

                                    It's a pretty good boxscore.

                                      • An interesting tidbit from Billboard magazine when 'I Found Someone' hit the top 10.

Cher's "I Found Someone" jumps four notches to No. 10, 22 years and seven months after she first cracked the top 10 with the Sonny & Cher classic "I Got You Babe." That's the longest span of top 10 hits by any female vocalist (who had featured billing on both hits). It beats by six months the old record set by Dionne Warwick, whose first and last top 10 hits span 22 years and one month.

                                          • It's Cher's birthday this weekend, where the grand duchess of pop celebrates her 71st birthday. Cher had her first number 1 in 1965, with Sonny on I Got You Babe, and also has the honour of holding the title for the biggest selling single of all time by a female artist, for Believe, which hit Number 1 in 1998. To date, it's sold 1.82 million copies and has racked up 8.5 million streams. But how is it doing this week? In the last seven days, 128 of you have downloaded Believe – which is around its regular number of downloads a week – and it's managed 87,000 plays. Happy birthday Cher!
