  • It might be diamond but unfortunately for them slip of the tongue wasn't a commercial success and we all know the story. The 90 s and grunge alternative music domination. Therefore if they have sold as much as 2 million would have been wonderful. But the re issues are not great catalogue sellers either like back in black but let's wait for Geffen to updated someday

    • Whitesnake / Unzipped: new ‘unplugged’ & acoustic six-disc box set
      http://www.superdeluxeedition.com/news/ ... c-box-set/
August 6, 2018 by Paul Sinclair

Rhino will issue Unzipped, a new Whitesnake super deluxe edition box set, later this year, that focuses on ‘unplugged’ and acoustic-based performances recorded over the last 20 years or so. This 5CD+DVD package includes rare and unreleased studio and live recordings, acoustic demos, concert videos, interviews and more.

The first CD in the set is called Unzipped… In The Studio: The Love Songs and features six previously unreleased tracks, while disc two, Starkers in Tokyo is a 1997 unplugged concert recorded in Tokyo. This has never been officially issued in the States and has been newly remixed for this set. Two further CDs, Starkers in Europe and More Starkers continue the theme, delivering 48 more audio tracks.

The final audio disc is Up Close & Personal which contains 25 of David Coverdale’s unreleased and acoustic demos.

A DVD completes the six-disc super deluxe edition with live, unplugged performances filmed around the world between 1997 and 2015, including a complete acoustic show recorded at the Cutting Room in New York in 2008.

Two-CD, 2LP (discs one and two of this set) and single CD (disc one) editions of Unzipped are also available, although the six-disc extravaganza is reasonably priced, so I suspect anyone interested will be going the whole hog!

This Whitesnake Unzipped box set will be issued on 19 October 2018

          • WHITESNAKE: Complete 'Flesh & Blood' Album Details Revealed; 'Shut Up & Kiss Me' Video Released

Fresh off celebrating their 40th anniversary, rock legends WHITESNAKE return with their latest studio album, "Flesh & Blood". This album follows the 2011 critically acclaimed studio album "Forevermore" and 2015's "The Purple Album", a reimagining of DEEP PURPLE classics from WHITESNAKE mastermind's David Coverdale's time in that band. The 13 original, visceral tracks on "Flesh & Blood", the band's 13th studio album, are, luckily for you dear reader, "all killer, no filler", as the saying goes.
But would you expect anything less from the 'Snakes?
Coverdale, the mastermind behind WHITESNAKE and co-composer of "Shut Up & Kiss Me"with guitarist Reb Beach, said "that after the intense darkness of our last video, 'Burn', if anything, it's 'light' snake, you know? We've got some really dark energy going on in the world right now, so we're gonna write and record a fun knees-up song about falling in love with a fabulous babe. You're over-talking, over-compensating and she just looks at you, takes the reins and says 'shut up and kiss me!' and that's it!! My video director and creative partner Tyler Bourns and I discussed a great storyline for the video, which involves a surprise guest: my fabulous old white Jaguar. We ended up cleaning and detailing it, as it has been in storage since I moved to Lake Tahoe, then we dusted off my old turquoise silk jacket from the original 'Here I Go Again' video and I was thinking, 'Man, this is going to be fun!' It's a respectful acknowledgment and positive nod to the past, just fun stuff."
Joining Coverdale on "Flesh & Blood" is the powerhouse band comprised of Reb Beach and Joel Hoekstra on guitar, Michael Devin on bass, Tommy Aldridge on drums, and Michele Luppi on keyboards.
Since joining the band four years ago, and just in time for 2015's "The Purple Album", Chicago native Joel Hoekstra has really come into his own, not only as a highly impressive axe-slinger, but also as a very accomplished songwriter too, co-writing six of the songs for "Flesh & Blood" with singer David Coverdale. Of course, Joel's talents are hardly surprising, considering he's the son of two classical musicians.
Guitarist Reb Beach, who originally joined WHITESNAKE in 2002, has stepped up to become the group's bandleader and guides the band to implement Coverdale's musical vision. As well as bringing his impressive musical chops to the band, Reb has co-written five songs on the new album, the fourth studio album he has appeared on, commencing with 2008's highly acclaimed "Good To Be Bad".
It was the "Good To Be Bad" follow-up, "Forevermore" (2011), that saw the debut of bassist Michael Devin. The New Englander's four-string-depth-charge-bass-bombs definitively underpin and drive the sound of WHITESNAKE in the 21st century.
Rounding out the rhythm section is David's longest serving 'Snake, the renowned drummer and unstoppable percussionist Tommy Aldridge, who has been with WHITESNAKE in some capacity for 30 years. Tommy made his debut with WHITESNAKE way back in 1987 in the "Still Of The Night" video, becoming a mainstay behind the kit for successive albums and tours.
Last, but certainly not least, the band is completed by the inventive keyboards and vocals of Italian maestro Michele Luppi, who made his live debut in 2015, as documented on "The Purple Tour" live CD/DVD (2018).
The current incarnation of the band carries on the long and unwavering tradition of mainman David Coverdale being surrounded by cream of the crop players who go all in to bring fans the best hard rock humanly possible. "Flesh & Blood" will be released May 10, 2019 via Frontiers Music Srl in multiple formats.
            Track listing:

                  • David Coverdale has left Whitesnake on three occasions, but is the only original member in the current incarnation of the once wholly British rock veterans, whose ranks now also includes Americans and an Italian. The 13th studio album to bear the Whitesnake name, Flesh & Blood, is their follow-up to 2015 No.18 release The Purple Album, and opens at No.7 on sales of 4,894 copies. Including hits and live releases, it is their 19th Top 75 album and their 10th Top 10 album, securing their highest chart position since 2008, when Good To Be Bad also reached No.7.

                                        • WHITESNAKE will bring together some of its hardest-hitting songs of its multi-platinum career on "The Rock Album", a new collection that features revisited, remixed and remastered versions of the group's best rock songs. The album is the first release in the band's "Red, White And Blues" trilogy, a series of fresh, new collections organized by musical themes that will include: "Love Songs" (red), "The Rock Album" (white) and "The Blues Album" (blue).

The official music video for "Anything You Want" from "The Rock Album" can be seen below.

"The Rock Album" will be available on June 19 on CD ($14.98), and as a double-LP set pressed on 180-gram, white vinyl ($31.98) and is available for pre-order now. The music also will be available through digital and streaming services. The collection features the debut of "Always The Same", a previously unreleased song that was recorded during the 2019 sessions for "Flesh & Blood".

In the album's liner notes, WHITESNAKE founder and lead singer David Coverdale writes: "All the songs have been revisited, remixed and remastered. Some have been musically embellished where my co-producer Michael McIntyre, my new mixer Christopher Collier and I felt it appropriate or necessary to bring out the best in these songs."

"The Rock Album" spans over three decades with songs originally released between 1984 and 2011 on six WHITESNAKE studio albums. One track — "She Give Me" — is taken from Coverdale's 2000 solo album "Into The Light".

The group's music from the 1980s is well represented by "Love Ain't No Stranger" from "Slide It In" (1984) and "Judgement Day" from "Slip Of The Tongue" (1989), as well as "Still Of The Night", "Give Me All Your Love" and the No. 1 smash "Here I Go Again" from WHITESNAKE's 1987 self-titled album, which has been certified mega-platinum.

"Restless Heart" (1997) gets its due on the collection with four songs, including the title track, the official lyric video for which can be seen below. "The Rock Album" also features music from 2008's "Good to Be Bad" ("Best Years" and "Can't You Hear The Wind Blow"), in addition to the title track from 2011's "Forevermore". Other highlights from "The Rock Album" include a remixed version of "All Or Nothing" that features additional guitars pulled from the original multi-track tapes, plus an alternate arrangement of "Tell Me How" from "Forevermore".
