This is a great album! Should have gone top 10 in the US too!
Well, it's still their highest charting album in 18 years, but still...

#70 US isn't too terrible considering there's been zero promotion for this album (in comparison, Def Leppard has gone on several high profile shows to promote their new album) and they haven't had a new US studio release since 1989.

True. The US passed on 1997's Restless Heart and the 1998 live acoustic album Starkers In Tokyo. It's seems they have been busy repacking the old hits instead.

The 2006 live album Live...In The Shadow Of The Blues (also containing 4 new studio tracks) wasn't released stateside either!

I suppose the Americans should consider them lucky Good To Be Bad is released!!!

It sold just over 13,000 in the UK in week 1, 5,400 on the Monday alone.

They may have not "technically as Whitesnake" released an album since 1989, but as Dane stated there was Restless Heart and Starkers In Tokyo and also Into The Light in 2000, as David on his own, but David is Whitesnake, so no difference.

There have been far too many compilations over the past 14 years, it's just ridiculous how many times they repackage the songs. Even the tours are getting rather boring, I've seen them god knows how many times (but not this time with Def Leppard) and it's just always the same set list, far too much new (sic) stuff, I want Lovehunter, Ready n' Willing, Come an' Get it.

I'd love him to do a proper solo tour and just do his own stuff, like Queen of Hearts, Lady, Time and Again, Keep On Givng Me Lovin with a wee bit Steal Away thrown in, oh and maybe Come On.

In the european top 100 albums chart it debuted at n.7 from billboard.biz.com:
The most surprising new name on the European album chart is that of Whitesnake, the veteran British rock act of which frontman David Coverdale is the sole original member. "Good To Be Bad" (SPV), the band's first new album in 11 years, enters at No. 7, the same ranking it achieves in the United Kingdom on opening sales of 13,000, according to the OCC. It's the German label's best-ever U.K. chart position and Whitesnake's best since "Come and Get It" reached No. 2 in 1981. The new set also arrives at No. 5 in Finland, No. 6 in Germany, and at No. 5 in a limited edition boxed version in Norway.

                        Thanks.

I don't think those albums were released in the US, so it is like their first 'new material' album in 19 years over there.

I've only seen the Snake live once, so I'm looking forward to the double bill with Leppard (whom I've never seen live!). Both are coming to Sweden Rock Festival.

David Coverdale's 1993 colabration with Jimmy Page, Coverdale/Page went silver (60,000) in 1993.

1994's Greatest Hits album is the only major compilation album released on both sides of the pond. Funny how they kept releasing different compilations during the past years.
The European ones tend to be more career spanning, while the US compilations mostly span the big hair period (1984-1989).

In the US Good To be Bad falls from #62 to #98 in the 2nd week with sales around 7K. Not a bad fall, maybe around 15%.

First reports of a last week entry at #70 was wrong. It entered BB200 at #62, maybe it was #70 on the comprehensive chat?

In the UK it fell 7-22.
