Which is somewhat unfair as it‘s imo one of her best ones. But I guess being released so shortly after Folklore kinda hurt after all.

Because there would be too many Taylor topics being open and alive otherwise (the TV eras, Midnights, general sales are already three!). I think it makes sense.

            • I also think that evermore would have a higher total count had it not been released so shortly after folklore, though since they're intended to be sister albums, I think it made sense to Taylor and her label at the time.

It's interesting that some of Taylor's highest sellers in the physical album buying market -- her debut and Speak Now -- are among her lowest shifters in terms of catalogue streams. Perhaps it's because a new generation has been exposed to Taylor creating a completely different genre of music, and streaming doesn't seem to reward country artists or albums.

Her debut album doesn't really have many great fan favourite album tracks like her later albums do, plus its singles were never released outside so their streams are also fairly low because of that. Add to that the fact that Taylor has barely acknowledged it since like 2011 outside the inclusion of Should've Said No on the Reputation Tour setlist and the occasional Our Song performance and it makes sense that its streams aren't as huge.

Speak Now suffers from a slightly similar problem, though it has a lot more popular album tracks which explain its streams being so much higher despite it actually selling a little less than her debut physically. It didn't have any big singles with Mine being the only one released outside the US, and it kind of flopped internationally, and songs like Mean not really being remembered. Its major saving grace now is Enchanted, which is actually doing really incredibly on streaming, being her fourth highest pre-Midnights song daily (it is even almost outdoing the two new versions of All Too Well combined). That is the main reason it is charting so surprisingly high in the US right now.

Taylor's streams are still abnormally high though, I would kill for some of my other faves to have songs and albums do so well even while being considered underperformers for her lofty standards.

Yeah definitely, although Folklore is still charting high the Folklore has been done since forever and the album is firmly in catalogue sales territory.

Maybe there should be a rule saying that era threads should go as long as the album isn't older than 1.5 years and currently not charting on a major chart's top 20.

There just needs consistency with the rules. I remember the “21” thread closing even though it was chatting and then a few weeks later was when “Hello” was announced and started sending her so bums back up the charts. It was frustrating. Even more so when there were threads still opened that should’ve been closed.
