                • I love that "Any Time, Any Place" has outperformed the Oscar-nominated, #1 hit "Again".

Too bad R&B points weren't added to the Hot 100 in the 90s since "Any Time, Any Place" was #1 on the R&B charts for ten weeks!! Easily would have been a #1 hit!

                  • Was "Janet Jackson" really a flop?

                    http://www.rockonthenet.com/archive/1983/bbyearend.htm

It was the #10 R&B album of 1983 and she ranked the #1 Top Black Album Artists - Female and #2 Top Black Singles Artists - Female on the Billboard Year-End.

For sure! I say this all the time... the fact it's last cert was April 1994 and the album charted #8 BB200 Year End ... and #170 1995 BB Year End.

I can't imagine it NOT shipping at least 2 million more units between in 1994 and 1995 despite the fact SoundScan only covered 60-70% of the market.

And now that I know record club sales weren't included into certs until 1995, I'm really curious to see how that plays out for Control and Rhythm Nation.

We have no idea what it shipped or sold pre-soundscan. I don't see it ever going Gold.

"Janet Jackson" has a good chance, it's actually sold pretty well during the Soundscan era.

Her 86-01 albums will see millions in new certifications.
