        • I love how we all come here to comment about how desperately Janet needs her catalogue recertified. I thought that after the docummentary addressing her career, she was going to take care about that but now its silence all over again.

I don't think Janet will ever have her albums/singles recertified no matter the movement. She doesn't seem to care too much for it. Also she's a totally independent artist now. If she re-signed with A&M or Virgin, maybe they could ask for an audit but I don't know if it's possible at this point. It doesn't help that YouTube streams on her videos haven't been pushed.

Too radical for the pop charts, I guess. Plus, the blow it would've done to her chart record. I think before her, Madonna had held the record for most consecutive top ten singles (16). At that point, Janet had:

              MYM
              RN
              ESC
              ALRGT
              CBTM
              BC
              LWND
              TBTILAF
              TTWLG
              IF
              AGAIN
              BOL
              ATAP
              YWT
              SCRM
              RWAY

So she had tied with her and she wanted to break the record, which she ultimately did with the biggest pop record on that album (TA). Having GTIG released as a single would've not helped her, I don't know how well its pop airplay was doing but I couldn't see it going top ten. Maybe top 20. The fact Janet only really released TWO singles from TVR and other songs were just for promo/radio tells a lot.

Only way that happens is if Busta/his label(s) request for it on his birthday (like Mariah's did for hers).

Maybe top 20 due to sales. The radio play wasn't happening here.

The same week Got Til It's Gone rose to #36 in airplay:

Usher - You Make Me Wanna
                      #33 Airplay
                      #3 Sales

                      = #3 Hot 100

                      Aqua - Barbie Girl
                      #31 Airplay
                      #9 Sales

                      = #11 Hot 100

ALL of Janet's singles 1995-2001 made the Top 3 in physical sales. So as long as she sold an amount typical of her releases she definitely had a more than decent shot of going Top 10 (even if for just one or two weeks).

                      • Yeah, it was likely going to be a top ten, I still think somewhere between 7-10, NOW, as we know, if R&B charts were included then it would have been an easy top ten! The positive is that it's going to be Gold eligible this year or next year! Sooner than expected!

If only they'd unblock its music video on VEVO! That's hurt so much of her SPS!

                          • Got 'Til It's Gone would have been surely a top 5 hit if it charted on the Hot 100 the video is arguably her most acclaim video but due to how the video look it was banned.

Janet should have released Go Deep in the U.S. that song without a doubt would have been a top 10 record.

Every Time definitely would have been a top 10 hit.

You was good as it suppose to be a promotional record.

What About was suppose to have had a music video Just like This Time from the janet. era was going to have but plans fell through damn I would have love to seen what the What About video would have look.

Together Again and I Get Lonely done so well and the different versions of each song made them mainstays especially Together Again her biggest hit record in the world but Got 'Til It's Gone, Go Deep & Every Time had so much potential but those 3 songs still holds up anyway well you don't really hear much of Every Time brought up.

                            • Agree with Go Deep. It picked up considerable airplay if I remember correctly but Everytime didnt. I dont think Everytime would have been a top 10 hit for her. Top 40 maybe.

I don't see how it could. When the video was released, there didn't seem to be a big push for it. But if there was, it would obviously be a bigger pop hit. Maybe not as big as Together Again but yeah.

I doubt it'll ever get there lol

The first two are not heavy favorites. You have to be a SUPER stan to appreciate both.

I guess it's not surprising that her '90s albums and All for You are her most popular albums to date in the streaming era. Control/RN1814 seemed neck in neck at the 95m range. YIKES at the numbers for 20 YO and Damita Jo though. Unbreakable truly benefited in the streaming era (via No Sleeep). I do think the fact she had interludes hurt the streams for some of these albums because I feel they would probably be up more without em, but that's just me.
