      • We've seen some of the most ridiculous comparisons here, and I think that we shouldn't be getting into conversation with people who can't differentiate between popularity and legacy, or with people who think that Spotify is the only tool for measuring someone's popularity. Cyndi Lauper has more monthly listeners than Celine Dion, Prince, Tina Turner, Cher, Bob Dylan, Barbra Streisand, Donna Summer, Sade, and many other legendary artists, but is she capable of filling up arenas or having a No. 1 album? Is she culturally more important than Bob Dylan? Is her legacy greater than Prince's?
        Gone.

        • I can't believe Cyndi has more monthly listeners than Prince.

On Pandora Janet (2.2m) has more listeners than Cyndi (2m) and Madonna (1.2m), but Pandora is just the US.

I do agree Spotify shouldn't be the only tool. Songs like "Semi Charmed Life" by Third Eye Blind have double and triple the amount of streams than any songs by Janet and Madonna.

Even "Mr. Jones" by the Counting Crows has almost 600 million streams on Spotify. TEB and Counting Crows are nowhere near as successful as Janet and Madonna.

The whole point is to STOP comparing everyone.

Looks like a big chunk of her discography was blocked in Brazil for some reason.

Well, for me it was only Discipline until last Saturday. Everything is there now.

                  • Janet's first 5 Top 10 Singles peaked across the entire Top 5 in the US:

What Have You Done For Me Lately (4)
                    Nasty (3)
                    When I Think of You(1)
                    Control (5)
                    Let's Wait Awhile (2)

Is this another one of these bizarre records?

I'll do next week again to see if everything is working on my data base and then I'll decide whether I'll do a weekly or monthly, although I'm more inclined to do the second option after this first update.

                                • Prince was more of a local US act, at least Cyndi Lauper had global impact with her eighties hits. Some of her signature hits are even more relevant and celebrated today than Madonna's iconic biggest hits as of late, and having experienced the nineties, Cyndi was pretty much done as a commercial act but her legacy in the eighties these days doesn't seem to be forgotten.

How did Prince not have global impact in the 1980s?

Why are we talking about Prince and Cyndi in this thread? Stop.

Since our previous look, Janet has notably set a new peak in London.

Several more cities (such as Auckland, Paris & Rio de Janeiro) could set a new peak within the next month.

Paris is what I would describe as the "bullet city", seeing the most growth on this list since the start of the month.

Yes, and she still has Top 5 hits like Runaway and Alright that need to be uploaded too!

Many people also don't even know videos like I Get Lonely, Someone To Call My Lover etc are even available since they were just quietly unblocked. I hope Janet eventually makes a post on Twitter/IG about her videography being available.
