  • Wow, this day has been a long time coming.

Also very exciting to see her officially have a Multi-Platinum single!

This gives me hope of her legacy being better handled in the future.

Would absolutely love if they could update her certifications in international markets as well. Namely Japan, Australia, Canada where her certs are equally outdated.

    • Is there a list of most platinum singles for women? Where does this new update put Janet?

              • I know it was given away for free but I Want You is technically a platinum single and we know Control has a platinum plaque based on her auction. She currently has 16 in total no?

                    • Don't Janet at least have 16 platinum records by RIAA and only 14 of them got certified being she can't get a certification for What's It Gonna Be? So she has one more song to be certified I Want You don't count being it's already platinum so 14 certs is correct the other half should be gold certified.

                                • Control, Let's Wait Awhile and Pleasure Principle still not in Janet RIAA database when they were already certified cause we see their plaques when she had that Auction she was doing of her stuff.

I hear there are rules to that. Labels can "hide" certifications. Wondering if that's what happened with those back in the day?

They shouldn't be hiding sales if so cause they messing up their numbers but I don't know maybe cause it was a different time period.

                                              • If you are unsure of if your title has been certified before, you can check the riaa.com/gold-platinum database. Please note, any certifications your label has asked to embargo will not appear on the riaa.com website until the label contact requests them to be included. If you would like your certification to remain hidden from our website upon completion of audit, please select YES in the Hidden column.

                                                That may explain why
she received gold or platinum awards for "Control", "Let's Wait Awhile" and "The Pleasure Principle" that aren't visible.

Design if a Decade went 4x-P in Australia back in 96' (please correct me if I'm wrong).

                                                  I wouldn't doubt 6x-Platinum+ in AUS.
