It's a homecoming of sorts for Jackson — and perhaps an attempt to reclaim her glory days: She began her career at A&M at 16 and had her biggest U.S. hit under their management: "Janet Jackson's Rhythm Nation 1814" moved a whopping 8.5 million units in 1990.

RN has certainly sold at least 10 million copies in the US and I believe it has sold 4 million abroad as well, 14 million in total.

Good find on the LA Times article.

Since Soundscan 1814's SPS is 2 million, which brings it to 8 million without club sales (BMG/Columbia House) and other shipments and of course stores that did not use SoundScan during 1991-now.

1814 will easily see a 9 million certification and diamond shouldn't surprise anyone.

And let's not forget. Soundscan only covered 50% of the market in 1991.

Find it interesting that if this was true that they suddenly stop updating RN1814 in 1992. I was expecting a RIAA certification update soon after her singles were certified and nothing. It's weird.

I am so pleased that Janet is above the 5 million mark again.

The latest entry Cape Town is climbing new heights daily (currently on 20,723, an increase of 964 listeners since January 1 of this year). In time it will most likely reach the Top 40. I predict that both South African cities are going to have legs in the long run.

We could also see a new peak in Auckland.

I feel like Janet team do things without her consent don't know of course to be true but it seem like they just want to get some money cause she does not announce the things her team be doing a lot and she certified the songs that we correctly knew would be eligible and certified but her Together Again tour and the janet. album 30th anniversary her numbers will ve going up.
