Right. We always have to be careful with predictions. Like for years, I thought Whitney's debut was in the run for 15 million units but its recent certification at 14x platinum just confirms that you just don't know how units are measured. And besides, I'm starting to think Janet's albums, except for maybe Discipline, are eligible for any new certification soon despite some optimism.

Most of Janet's audience skew much older and probably don't care for Spotify which is why streams on her most successful albums are lower than they should be. It could also be that Janet is not connecting with today's youth like Whitney or Madonna or Mariah or Celine or Kate Bush. She doesn't have a definitive single like I Wanna Dance with Somebody or Running Up That Hill that people could put in a billion playlists. Call on Me is likely getting the spins it does because of Nelly.

"Control" was last certified in 1989, when album sales were STILL huge. Sales dipped in the Napster era (2003-2004). The idea that "Control" only shipped 1 million copies in 34 years isn't realistic. You're also forgetting how big the album was in the music club sales era.
Remind you, these are views from audio generated streams posted by Columbia Records of IASF:
            1. If I Were a Boy - 19m
            2. Halo - 41m - most viewed audio track on IASF by a large margin
            3. Disappear - 1.9m
            4. Broken-Hearted Girl - 7.2m
            5. Ave Maria - 2.3m
            6. Smash Into You - 4.1m
            7. Satellites - 137k
            8. That's Why You're Beautiful - 235k
            9. Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It) - 28m
            10. Radio - 631k
            11. Diva - 9.9m
            12. Sweet Dreams - 18m
            13. Video Phone - 971k
            14. Hello - 3.5m
            15. Ego - 17m
            16. Scared of Lonely - 758k
Overall, its audio views are pretty large compared to this from Control:
            1. Control - 998k
            2. Nasty - 2.2m
            3. What Have You Done for Me Lately - 1m
            4. You Can Be Mine - 174k
            5. The Pleasure Principle - 1.4m
            6. When I Think of You - 2.2m
            7. He Doesn't Know I'm Alive - 176k
            8. Let's Wait Awhile - 2.8m
            9. Funny How Time Flies - 4m - most viewed track on Control thus far
            IASF - 154,632,000 (approximate)
            CTRL - 14,948,000 (approximate)

Obviously there is a BIG gap between the two. IASF would be closer for a new certification than Control is at this stage.

I love BURNITUP!. It's one of my most played Janet songs and I didn't know it was not an official single. Definitely a mistake
I forgot how popular Call on Me was over there! You're right.

They definitely acknowledged that it was at the 1993 awards ceremony though. That was a big get that they did. Maybe that's why it was her that got every award and not Janet.

                          I'm not comparing AGS.

Janet was a massive physical sales seller. It's last certification was 1989. You're suggesting that "Control" shipped/sold 24,000 copies a year since 1989?

Even "Janet Jackson" sold nearly 8,000 a year from 91-99.

                            • Janet did very well with music clubs. Her pre-Virgin era could have gone very well with Columbia.

I just don't want to get excited and end up with egg on my face. I believe that Control will get 7xp+ but I'll prepare for 6.

                                5. Janet Jackson 146,000

It seems Celine Dion may overtake Janet in South Africa, but then again she has an advantage, not only overall but particularly around Christmas.

The unblocking of Together Again seems to be helping considerably in Europe, we've had an increase of (+59,700), compared to last time's figure of 605,700. There are 4 key cities that have contributed to growth the most: London, Paris, Rotterdam & Brussels.

It looks like Brazil may follow in pursuit, for South America, thanks to Call On Me.

Whitney was awarded because she was a producer/performer but it was not credited as HER album. That's why Janet won Female Top200 artist of the year. Whitney would have easily been top 2 artist of the year but she wasn't given points for TBS.

Janet was a massive physical sales seller. It's last certification was 1989. You're suggesting that "Control" shipped/sold 24,000 copies a year since 1989?

Even "Janet Jackson" sold nearly 8,000 a year from 91-99.
She moved great physical numbers when her albums were out, doesn't mean it continued after it left the charts. And for the debut to only do that. I think Anita Baker's "Songstress" sold more than that if I'm not mistaken?

I just don't want to get excited and end up with egg on my face. I believe that Control will get 7xp+ but I'll prepare for 6.
