We look at the total she has today (335,034,779) and compare it to the total she had yesterday (334,485,132) and take the difference (ie. Subtraction) to show us how much she increased (+549,647)

it really bothers me, bc the RIAA updates their lists all the time and newer acts rise on the alltime list, while veterans like Mariah get pushed down.

The way Taylor and Rihanna get their totals updated, they should surpass the Beatles, Elvis etc by 2035.
