"Poker Face" and "Just Dance" are going to soon hit 7M sales! "Born This Way" - 4M! And what about the updated sales of "The Edge of Glory" and "You And I"? I remember they crossed the 2M mark! "Judas" is close to 1M and "Marry The Night" probably to gold...

      • "Poker Face" sells around 4,000 downloads per week; "Just Dance", "Bad Romance", and "Born This Way" around 3,000 (rarely over 3K for "Born This Way", though); "Paparazzi" & "Telephone" between 1,500 and 2,000 (usually closer to 1,500, though). Math is up to you.

Marry the Night was officialy certified Gold in March 2012... It passed 500k copies long time ago. I don't remember the last known figure, but it should be around 700k now.

Just Dance (6xPlat) and Poker Face (5xPlat) should be upgraded to 7xPlat soon... But with the new rules (including streaming and YouTube) they should be certified Diamond by now.

Telephone, Alejandro, Born This Way, Judas and TEOG are still not certified by the RIAA...

              The Fame should be 4xPlat...

And the undercertification of her albums and singles is even worse in the UK...

              Interscope...

                              • Lady Gaga scores another million-selling single!

Lady Gaga’s Bad Romance becomes one of the UK’s biggest selling singles of all-time.

Congratulations to Lady Gaga who today claims the second million selling single of her career!

The US star is currently battling it out with Ellie Goulding in the race to this week’s Official Number 1 single with her comeback track Applause, but regardless of what happens on Sunday’s final chart, the champagne corks will be popping in the Haus Of Gaga this weekend, as sales of her 2009 hit Bad Romance have crossed over the million copies sales barrier in the last 24 hours.

Clad in a pair of Alexander McQueen’s death-defying ‘lobster claw’ uber heels, Gaga strutted all the way to the top of the Official Singles Chart with Bad Romance in December 2009, before being bizarrely knocked off a week later by Rage Against The Machine’s Killing In The Name - the result of perhaps the greatest Christmas Number 1 races of all time! However, two weeks later Gaga pawed her way back to pop’s throne, reclaiming the top spot once again and the first Number 1 of 2010.

Bad Romance now joins Gaga’s previous million seller, Poker Face, as one of the UK’s biggest selling singles of all-time. Taken from The Fame Monster, Bad Romance is only the 138th track to sell over a million copies in British history, and the twelfth single to reach this milestone this year. It follows Robin Thicke’s Blurred Lines FT TI and Pharrell Williams which crossed over the million mark last month.

Sir Elton John’s double A-side, Something About The Way You Look Tonight / Candle In The Wind '97, remains the UK’s biggest selling single of all-time. It has clocked up nearly 5 million sales since its release sixteen years ago this month.

Lady Gaga is only the sixteenth artist ever to achieve more than one million selling single in the UK.

Sir Paul McCartney has nine to his name, spread across his work with The Beatles (six), Band Aid (two) and Wings (one).

You can see the full list of all the UK’s 138 million selling singles below:

                                      • UK (update)

Burn aside, the most eagerly awaited new release is Applause by Lady Gaga. The introductory single from Gaga's upcoming third album ARTPOP, it was rush released at around 5pm last Tuesday (13th), and sold 38,042 copies by the end of the week to debut at number five. Gaga's first single since Marry The Night in November 2011, it seems unlikely to deliver her fifth number one, but for the moment it is her 17th Top 75 entry, and her 10th Top 10 hit. Its release, a decision triggered by its leakage on the internet, came just two days after 2009 chart-topper Bad Romance became Gaga's second million-seller.

Selling 453 copies last week (its best return for 11 weeks), Bad Romance increased its cumulative sales to 1,000,403, putting it second in Gaga's personal hitlist behind Poker Face, which has sold 1,134,517 copies. GaGa is only the third female solo artist to have more than one million seller - Celine Dion also has two, and Rihanna has three, though two of hers are collaborations (with Eminem as a featured artist and Calvin Harris as a primary artist), so her inclusion here on a list dedicated to solo females is debatable. Gaga has sold a staggering 7,628,592 singles in the UK since her debut but her best weekly tally for any single is surprisingly modest, being the 82,487 copies that Born This Way sold when holding at number three in February 2011.

KATY PERRY VS. LADY GAGA: WHO'S SOLD MORE?

                                            Hi Gary,

With the release of Katy Perry and Lady Gaga's new singles, everyone is comparing the two artists. To add fuel to the fire, could you please update us with the Nielsen SoundScan figures for their albums and top-selling singles? And, which artist has sold more albums and singles?

                                            Cheers,

                                            Krzysztof Gorecki
                                            Lublin, Poland

                                            Hi Krzysztof,

The big news on the Billboard Hot 100 this week, other than Robin Thicke snagging an 11th week at No. 1 with "Blurred Lines," was obviously the 85-2 blast of Perry's "Roar" and the No. 6 bow for Lady Gaga's "Applause."

As a sort-of Hot 100 afterparty, how do Perry and Gaga fare in comparison to each other when it comes to their career album and digital song sales? Given that both artists first charted on the Hot 100 in 2008, it's a pretty even playing field (one which we're apparently about to help set more fire to …)

Here are each star's best-selling digital songs and their U.S. album sales through the week ending Aug. 18, according to Nielsen SoundScan:

                                            The totals?

                                            First, digital song sales:
                                            Katy Perry: 49,897,000
                                            Lady Gaga: 46,322,000

                                            And, album sales:
                                            Lady Gaga: 8,817,000
                                            Katy Perry: 4,333,000

So … Perry narrowly leads in digital song sales, while Gaga boasts a more than two-to-one lead in album sales, reflecting the latter's clearer status as an album act.

In all, victories for both Little Monsters and Katycats! ... Plenty more discussion is a lock as "Roar" and "Applause" grow, leading up to the releases of Perry's album "Prism" (Oct. 22) and Gaga's "ARTPOP" (Nov. 11).

                                                  • The numer of albums sold from the Billboard's article is 8,817,000 copies. But add all the albums mentioned in the article and you will get 8,788,000. So where is 29,000 copies? What's left? The Cherrytree Sessions EP? Born This Way: The Collection?
