I only mentioned TD here as it is literally the female album above TF on the list of female albums with the most weeks on BB200, and it's obvious that TF will overtake TD soon, the difference between them fell from 13 weeks to just 7 weeks between May last year and today.

    • It's clear now why Million brought TD into the conversation.

So The Fame’s certification is outdated while The Fame Monster is eligible for even more by now.
After I analyzed all the data, I came to the conclusion that these numbers reported by Nielsen do not include only TEA units but TEA and SEA, these numbers are the total SPS of those albums up to that time and not just adding TEA as they said, and to conclude this, just check the numbers of BTW and ARTPOP (according to HDD, BTW and ARTPOP had sold 4m and 1.5m units, respectively, in the US until last year) so these figures from 2017 are clearly SPS. However, the TF numbers in this Nielsen report are a confusing case, but, I have already unraveled the mystery:

Those 8.8m TF units refer to its pure sales (4.7m at the time) + TF & TFM'S TEA (3.7m or 37 million pure song sales) + TF SEA (400k or 600m US streams) = 8.8 m. This calculation is 100% correct, as in the middle of 2018 the breakdown of TF units by Nielsen was revealed, and it was 9.2m, that's: 8.8m before the SuperBowl + ~300k units sold in 2017 (SB effect) + 101k sold in the first half of 2018 = 9.2m units:

        WTEA SSEA 9,018,504
        WTEA SSEA 9,192,675
Thus, it is clear that this figure does not include the TFM's pure sales in the US (1.6m) and neither its SEA.

Regarding these 5.7m figures for TFM, these values are incorrect, as they duplicated the units of TEA (TF+TFM) and SEA of TF on TFM numbers:

        TF - 4.7m pure + 4.1m SPS = 8.8m
        TFM - 1.6m pure + 4.1m SPS = 5.7m

So, here's the final conclusion about the real sales of these albums:

        TF — 9.2m till middle 2018 + 90k (rest of 2018) + 240k (2019) + 290k (2020) = 9.8m units

        Breakdown: 4.9m pure + ~1m SEA (1.5B ODS) + 3.8m TEA (TF+TFM) = ~9.8M units

        TFM — 1.65m + ~1m SEA (1.5B ODS) = 2.7m units

(both albums have similar numbers when we add Spotify + YouTube so I estimated the same SEA for both)

        Nielsen method:
        TF + TFM US UNITS: 9.8m + 2.7m = 12.5m (w/o shipments).

        Actual units of each album:
        TF — 8.3m
        TFM — 4.2m
        = 12.5m

And then, someone can ask me: Why were TF and TFM certified as 6x P and 5x P, respectively, a year ago, instead of certifying TF as 9x P and TFM as 2x P? The answer is simple: these albums combined had a total of between 11-12m units sold in the US, however, Gaga's label decided to certify TF only with its pure sales + ship. + SEA, and used its TEA for TFM's certificate. They did that because they want her to have two diamond albums in the US in the future instead of just one because if they had put most of the units of these albums on TF and left TFM only with their pure sales and SEA would make TF already certified as Diamond in the US, however, it would take TFM decades to reach diamond in the US. By balancing the units, both albums will reach the diamond in the US almost together. They made a smart choice.

In the UK there's only a Top 100 on the album chart.

Really ? Ive never seen it ? Do you have a link ?

On the official charts company site they only go to the Top 100 and all the stats are counted to the top 100 only.

The last time they are showing The Fame charting was the week of 16/7/2020 at no 96, which was its 187th week on the chart in total.

Oh wow, never knew that existed. Thanks.

But they still only count the top 100 on chart stats though so really surprised they bother compiling beyond that.

Just because most of the charts only show the Top 100 doesn't mean that they only track those albums/singles. They literally track all the albums and singles that exist in world, even if those works are no longer on the charts. That's why songs and albums that are no longer on the charts continue to have their certificates updated, especially in countries where this is automatic, such as UK and France. They need to do this to keep all data up to date, and this is automatic, they have a panel with a database that receives sales reports from each artist every day.

I know the Irish Charts system is messy since the change over to the UK Chart Company running them and and the halting of certs, but I hope they do some sort of all-time update soon because The Fame is definitely among the biggest female albums of all time there (#2 from a report from 2 years ago behind Adele but Gaga continues to chart), and Shallow is still charting at 115 weeks, so I imagine is one of the longest charting songs ever...

                                      • Tony Bennett & Diana Krall, Love Is Here to Stay – No. 11 — Bennett and Krall’s team-up on Love Is Here to Stay arrives at No. 11 on the Billboard 200 with 36,000 equivalent album units earned. Of that sum, 35,000 were in traditional album sales — the largest sales week for any jazz album in nearly two years.

                                        -

Knowing that pure sales are dead in 2021 and that there is no bundles to help anymore, I’m expecting between 70-85k units for our new jazz album
