Avicci's Wake Me Up has become the fastest-selling single in the UK in eight months after already this week surpassing 200,000 sales.
With two days of trading still to go, the Positva/PRMD single has already achieved the highest weekly sales to date this year, according to Official Charts Company data, beating the previous peak of 198,856 copies set by Robin Thicke's Interscope/Polydor single Blurred Lines with TI and Pharrell Williams in mid-June. Wake Me Up's total up to the end of business on Thursday was 207,978, the highest weekly sales figure since Justice Collective's Metropolis-issued charity single He Ain't Heavy He's My Brother sold 269,248 copies to debut at No 1 last December.

Wow... I would say this has to be the apex of massive non-charity/non-casting show singles this year, but I thought the same for Get Lucky, then for Blurred Lines, so I wouldn't be surprised if something even more massive comes along

        Great for him!

          1 [1] - Wake Me Up

No competition in sight. Could it overtake Scream & Shout as the song with most weeks at #1 this year (5 weeks)? It is now at four weeks.

Probably the biggest opening (without Charity, Christmas, X-Factor related) since Kylie's CGYOOMH?

Btw, #2 on Canadian iTunes + #28 United States

                            It'll smash in America

It's being blocked in NZ (by a great song btw) :-? and stalling in France (at #5 though )

                              UK Sales
22 weeks after topping the singles chart for the first time, Swedish dance DJ Avicii - aka Tim Bergling - returns to the summit in spectacular style, with new single Wake Me Up! annihilating its opponents as it dashes to the summit on first week sales of 266,524 copies.

That's the highest weekly sale of any single in 2013, and the 27th highest of the 21st century. The top 14 entries on that 21st century list (see below) are records by TV talent show competitors, charity records and December releases - some of them even combine all three of those aspects. The biggest weekly sale by any other type of release came in March 2009, when It Wasn't Me topped the chart for Shaggy feat. RikRok on sales of 345,498 copies. The last such release to sell more copies in a week that Wake Me Up! was Cheryl Cole's Fight For This Love, which blasted its way to the summit on sales of 292,846 copies in 2009. Wake Me Up! scored the highest weekly sale for s core dance record in the 21st century, beating the 202,591 copies that Spiller's Groovejet sold on its September 2000 debut. Avicii's first number one, I Could Be The One - a collaboration with Nicky Romero - sold 90,999 copies when it debuted at number one in February. Perhaps surprisingly, despite the fact it has sold 419,467 copies it isn't Avicii's biggest seller. That would be Levels, which reached number four in 2011, but has gone on to sell 617,893 copies. It also formed the basis of Flo Rida’s Good Feeling, which was an even bigger hit, reaching number one and selling 752,061 copies and reaching number ne. Avicii received no artist credit on that record – and he, in turn, has denied vocalist Aloe Blacc a credit on Wake Me Up!

Avicii looks likely to prevent One Direction's Best Song Ever debuting at No 1 in the UK after opening up a 60% sales lead with Wake Me Up.

Having debuted at the top last Sunday with 266,524 sales to achieve the biggest retail tally of the year, the Positiva/PRMD-issued Wake Me Up now looks comfortably placed to make it two weeks at No 1 this coming weekend, according to Official Charts Company data.

By the end of Tuesday the track had shifted around another 70,000 units, putting it about 25,000 sales ahead of Syco's brand new One Direction single
I wonder how his album will do, I have big expectations tbh...

Avicii's Wake Me Up has already sold another 100,000 copies in the UK this week after debuting at No 1 last Sunday with 2013's highest sales figures.

The Positiva/PRMD single is a certainty to top the chart again this weekend having shifted a further 107,492 copies by the end of business on Thursday, according to the Official Charts Company. That gives it a lead of nearly 50,000 units over its closest rival, One Direction's newly-issued Syco single Best Song Ever.

Wake Me Up sold 266,528 copies last week, the highest tally so far this year, while its cumulative UK total is on course to be above 400,000 by the end of this week just a fortnight after being released.

One Direction’s Best Song Ever couldn't budge Avicii’s Wake Me Up from the top of the Official Singles Chart.

One Direction’s Best Song Ever has failed to knock Avicii’s Wake Me Up off the top of the Official Singles Chart. Avicii today spends a second week at Number 1, denying the 1D boys their fourth chart topper.

Last Sunday, Wake Me Up became the fastest selling single of 2013 so far when nearly 267,000 copies of the superstar Swedish DJ and producer’s track were purchased during its first week on sale. Seven days later, and Wake Me Up is still enjoying stellar sales, shifting an additional 155,000 this week, and outselling One Direction’s Best Song Ever (Number 2) by two copies to one.
