                    51 ― Starry Eyes ― Young Bombs
                    52 ― So Am I ― Ava Max
                    53 ― Push ― Eric Redd

Debuted the last week without being breakout, can someone check for me, please?

                                      • I'm doing research on the famous CD Ringles from late 2007. If you have the Top 100 single sales for November 17, 24 & December 1st, could you please post them? I have the Top 25 but I need the full charts.

                                        Thank you.

                                        • Trying this question under this topic....

I was browsing through the new chart archive on Billboard.com. The Holidays Album Sales chart goes back to 1991.
I had never seen the Sales version of this chart before 2017. At a first glance it looks like the Sales chart in the archive before 2017 is the same as the Holiday Albums chart of that week, except for the weeks on chart count for albums that were on the Holidays Albums chart before 1991 and the peak position if that was set before 1991.
This brings me to my question: When did the Holiday Album Sales chart start?
And maybe more general: Is there a list of first issue dates of all (Sales) charts in Billboard?

Thanks in advance for your expert answers!!!

                                          • The Holiday Album Sales chart, as powered by Soundscan, began in 1991.

The chart was previously known as Holiday Albums, but it adopted the name retroactively when all the genre-specific charts switched to SPS in 2017. All the charts from 1991-2016 will be the same, powered purely by sales numbers.

Thanks WolfSpear. So to make sure I understand it correctly:

                                              - 1983-1985, 1987-2016 Holiday Albums chart based on sales only
                                              - 2017-now Holiday Albums chart, new methodology based on sales & streams
                                              - 1991-2016 Holiday Album Sales chart equals Holiday Albums chart (except week numbering and peak position for albums already charting before 1991) [Not published as such but re-created in 2017]
                                              - 2017-now Holiday Album Sales chart (new name for Holiday Albums chart)

                                              Correct?

This leaves me with new questions: Why did Billboard do the retroactive action back to 1991? Why did they not include all previous (sales based) charts from before 1991 too?

                                              Thanks, chartlover

Would anyone have access to the 1959-1985 Bubbling Under and 1940-1954 Pop Memories spreadsheets by any chance? I would greatly appreciate them. Many thanks.

They chose to start “Holiday Album Sales” with the week ending December 7, 1991, since it’s the first Nielsen powered holiday chart. The same thing happened to “Top Album Sales”, which has the May 25, 1991 start date. Prior to those dates, both charts were based on retailer reports rather than raw sales numbers.

Personally, I look at Top Album Sales as everything from 1956-present in regards to continuity, with the SPS formula being ignored. When we’re talking chart records though, it makes sense to start with that 1991 date. It keeps everything organized with real numbers from the start.

Your point of view is certainly not wrong by any means. Most of us here will agree that what you said makes sense.

                                                  • Greetings,

Echoing the post from Torgo98 above (as I would also like copies of those referenced sheets), would anyone also have a copy of the Pop ME (1955-1958) spreadsheet? I believe all three (1940-1954, 1955-1958 and BU 1959-1985) were posted together several years ago, although perhaps in a different thread(?).

Also, thank you to all who have posted information, charts, files, etc. to these forums. I only discovered them recently and have been like a kid in a candy store ever since. I know I speak for many here when I say that all of your efforts are greatly, GREATLY appreciated. Many many thanks!
