During the late 70s/early 80s Freebird was always the go-to final track of the night....
Not just in the metal/rock "soundhouses" that were springing up everyhere but the mainstream discos and the venues that specialised in new wave...
I suspect this is why Freebird sold so steadily despite never getting radio plays.
It was perfect for the job, opening in mournful give-up-get-your-coat-go-home-admit-you're-not-gonna-pull mode before upping tempo and sending everyone out into the chill night air with a spring in their step...
