'Hangar 18' is a great song. Sadly, it was also the song that saw Top Of The Pops taken off TV in my local pub on a Thursday night! As long as I'd been drinking in my local, Top Of The Pops had been on the TV in the pub week in, week out without fail. In 1990 some of the locals had started to complain about it being on as they no longer liked the music. It reached a head in March 1991 when 'Hangar 18' was played at the end of one TOTP programme. Someone walked up to the TV while it was playing and switched off the TV muttering obscenities and vowing to stay away the following week. After that - no more Top Of The Pops in the pub.

Don't know why Free are excluded, especially as a previous re-release was at #1 back in '82!

    The Almighty enter next week....

Ricky already sounding a bit like Phil....

Black Star Riders got 44 points from me in the recent "last 20 years" poll....

    Nobody else voted for them....

The Chart Show Rock Chart (23rd February 1991)

The Almighty in - bizarrely excluded by Kerrang! - funnily enough it's next to Thin Lizzy! (Ricky Warwick is now a Black Star Rider with Thin Lizzy members)
Free - All Right Now - weirdly not rock enough for Kerrang! even though they have Thunder at #1
Jimmy Barnes and those imposters up to 3

Loud were a pretty good group. Awful name, though. Especially doing a Google search, it's nearly as bad as Live.

I don't think i knew any of this at the time:

LOUD was formed in Leeds by Chris McLaughlin in 1989 following the guitarist's stint with New Model Army. The group's debut album, 'D Generation', was produced by Killing Joke frontman Jaz Coleman.
    https://www.discogs.com/artist/263725-Loud-2

You wouldn't think of those bands upon hearing them!

The Chart Show Rock Chart (2nd February 1991)

Jimmy Barnes and INXS at 8 with Good Times. Barnes gets it included because of his band Cold Chisel, not recognised by Kerrang!

    Queen's Innuendo number one.

Great record by Living Colour. The single version was subtitled "Soul Power Mix", while the album version was on the B side. My local radio station would play the album version while Radio 1 went for the remix.

From my favourite Motorhead track last week, to my favourite Black Crowes track this. I really loved their whole first album, some great tracks on it but I lost any respect for them after seeing them live in 91 at the Edinburgh Playhouse, where Chris Robinson took exception to someone in the crowd and proceeded to jump feet first into the person head/face from the stage, claiming the fan had thrown coins at him, which was absolute nonsense.

The Chart Show Rock Chart (12th January 1991)

Wolsfbane dropped off the Kerrang! chart but are up to 7 here - they're still rubbish, though
