            • Zed Yago, I couldn't tell you one of their songs but i did see them live, supporting WASP in 89, clearly didn't leave a lasting impression on me!

Tigertailz! Just weren't my thing, in the grand scheme of things, their music isn't that bad but the whole get up just put me off them, from the start.

I was re-listening to the Vixen track and it was doing my nut in, where I'd heard the chorus from. Turns out it's actually the other way around (just), Love Walked In by Thunder, released a year later, seems to have a very similar chorus to Love Made Me.

Seen Gun support Bon Jovi and they were a pretty decent live band, but none of their tracks I ever found anything special.

                • Like Zed Yago but bit of a surprise to see them in this chart when compatriots like Accept and Warlock struggle to get a look in....

Tigertailz are great - "Love Bomb Baby" sounds like a Chinnichap reject from '73 (and I mean that in a good way!)

Agree re. Vixen/Thunder, pretty obvious "unconscious influence" at work there...

Never rated Gun. Not a patch on the late 60s act of the same name who recorded the proto-metal classic "Race With The Devil"!

                    • I think someone from Absolute Radio Classic Rock has been reading this thread as a few of the records from the above chart have been played at some point today!

                      • God, that station annoys me. Given the plethora of Classic Rock out there, their penchant for playing the exact same songs by the exact same artists, is beyond ridiculous. I used to listen to it at work, but it was just the same stuff day in, day out, absolutely no variety and pretty much no lesser known tracks or bands.

Looking at the above chart, I can't imagine that what you heard was anything but the Guns N Roses or Tom Petty tracks, at a push the Bon Jovi, Metallica or Poison tracks but beyond that (unless they have radically changed their playlists), I couldn't see them playing any of the other tracks or artists.

I honestly wish there was some kind of policy, that stations had to adhere to, to prevent such repetition.

It's the first time I've listened to the station for more than 5 minutes. You're right, the acts they played were the ones you mentioned.

Unfortunately all these stations just seem to play the same songs day in, day out, week in, week out. I used to be a big XFM fan until they started to play the same oldies and they seem to have got worse since changing their name to Radio X a few years back.

                          • Aye, these stations are great if you pop them on once in a blue moon, but the programmers have made them unlistenable on a daily basis, unless of course, you're happy to eternally hear the same 3 or 4 songs, from the same 20 or so artists. It's just killed my love of radio.

                                • Surprising to see Tin Machine in there but, on reflection, fair enough....! Remember critics at the time grumbling that Bowie had set up a "heavy metal band".....

Odd that Kerrang! are now excluding Queen. ' I Want It All' obviously should have been included....

                                  • It wasn't the first time in Bowies career that he'd went heavy. Kind of, on the back of the success of Zepppelin, Sabbath and Purple, he turned his hand to quite a Heavy Blues/Proto Metal sound on The Man Who Sold The World.

Queens a strange one. They excluded Las Palabras De Amor and Back Chat (which is understandable) from Hot Space (Body Language was released prior to Kerrangs 1st chart), everything from The Works and Thank God It's Christmas, then included everything from the A Kind Of Magic, then excluded them again, come The Miracle singles.

                                    • Yes, good point re. "The Man Who Sold The World".

That album was definitely an outlier amongst Bowie's early catalogue...

                                      • OCC can't make up their minds about Queen today! Completely excluded from their rock albums chart and only certain songs are allowed - including bizarrely Thank God It's Christmas.

                                        • Yet the OCC include Pink Floyd albums on the Rock Album chart, while excluding Queen, who while certainly more of a pop band than Floyd, are also far more of a bone fide rock act, well they certainly are IMO.
