Presumably it would've been at 7 as it was at 6 on Monday?

      • Presumably these bizarre comings-and-goings of tracks to the chart that keep falling foul of the artist cap are never explained on the Top 40 chart show? Presumably few notice or care, but it must feel counter-intuitive airing a track in the Top 10 one week then nowhere the next, then back in the 10 the week after that! While it only happens periodically that the fourth track would be shifting enough to still be in the upper echelon of the full chart, having them yo-yoing from exclusion to inclusion over a period of weeks as its consumption vies with another song for third chartable track honours arguably undermines the ostensible credibility of the chart as much as having 20 of the Top 75 occupied by heavily-streamed tracks from a big new (usually rap) album release if the cap did not exist.

I think none of those tracks should even be in the chart as they are reflected on the album chart. Those tracks should be on a separate chart that would count non-single tracks. If the song isn't a single and ins't being actively promoted as a single shouldn't have a place on Single Chart as none that didn't listen to the album ever heard that song so it's not a hit song. Period. Otherwise what's the point on having an album chart if the album listenings go both to albums and single charts (even when the songs being listened are just album tracks and not singles).

          • Music Week sales update for yesterday

The Official Charts Company Midweek Sales Flash is in, and OIivia Rodrigo looks set for another week of singles chart glory, with Good 4 U sitting pretty at No.1

This week, the track has 59,789 sales so far, and is out in front of The Weeknd’s Save Your Tears (26,402 sales) and Doja Cat & Sza’s Kiss Me More (24,805 sales. Rodrigo’s Deja Vu (22,113 sales) and Galantis, David Guetta & Little Mix’s Heartbreak Anthem (17,317 sales) complete the Top 5, with Rodrigo’s Traitor (17,027 sales) close behind.

In the albums chart, Wolf Alice continue their bid to end Rodrigo’s reign and score their first ever No.1, as Blue Weekend (31,189 sales) ticks past the 30,000 mark. Rodrigo’s Sour (15,920 sales) is at No.2, with new entries from James (All The Colours Of You, 12,196 sales) and Crowded House (Dreamers Are Waiting, 4,794 sales) ahead of Rag’N’Bone Man’s Life By Misadventure (3,779 sales) in the Top 5.

I tend to agree with you. Arguably only 'true' singles should've been permitted for the singles chart when they fully-incorporated digital sales into the mix in Jan '07, so the tabulation could've remained an actual 'singles' listing and not a free-for-all 'tracks' chart. It surely would've resolved a lot of these frustrating problems with mass streaming and so on, as only those issued as singles proper could count (though nowadays it is becoming increasingly for artists to release three or more tracks singularly in short order ahead of an album release, that still would only mean they'd have a handful of tracks in the chart if each were being consumed in sufficient quantities.

                • The Coldplay single is still doing well. After a couple of weeks I thought it was in steep decline but it seems to have stabilised.

Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds' greatest hits album Back The Way We Came is heading for Number 1

Plus new albums from Garbage, Polo G, and Marina are on course for big debuts this week.

Noel Gallagher is flying high in today’s Official Albums Chart Update (June 14) as his new greatest hits collection Back The Way We Came Vol 1 (2011-2021) is heading for Number 1.

The best of, which chronicles his post-Oasis career under Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, takes an early lead after racking up the most physical (CD and vinyl) sales over the weekend, including a limited edition vinyl for Record Store Day, which took place on Saturday.

It could earn Noel his fourth chart-topper under NGHFB - 12th including his work with Oasis.

Six more new releases are vying for a place in this week’s Top 10; Garbage are currently at Number 3 with No Gods No Masters, potentially their highest charting record since 1998’s Number 1 Version 2.0, while a deluxe edition release of Jessie Ware’s What’s Your Pleasure sends the album back into the Top 5 at Number 4.

US rapper Polo G is new at 5 with his third album Hall Of Fame, rap trio Migos are at 7 with Culture III, and Marina is poised to claim her fifth Top 10 record with Ancient Dreams In A Modern Land at 8. Comedian Bo Burnham starts at 10 with Inside (The Songs), a collection of comedic tracks that appear in his new Netflix stand-up special.
MORE: Maroon 5' Official Top 20 biggest songs

Maroon 5’s seventh collection Jordi opens at 12, just ahead of Linkin Park, whose chart-topping 2003 album Meteora re-enters at 13 following a reissue for Record Store Day, which took place last Saturday (June 12).

More Record Store Day releases feature in the midweek Top 40: Fontaines DC’s Live At Kilmainham Gaol (18), Amy Winehouse’s Remixes (28), The Cure’s Faith (37), and Ultravox’s Vienna 39.

Elsewhere, Joe Bonamassa’s live album Now Serving – Royal Tea Live From The Ryman lands at 21, and the self-titled album from Mammoth WVH (which stands for Wolfgang Van Halen), the son of late guitarist Eddie Van Halen, starts at 33.

                    • 8 is disappointing for Marina after seeing her hold on at #2 on iTunes - she might not keep her top ten record intact . Garbage at 3 with help from RSD vinyl there - they don't deserve it.

Not having the Vinyls out really killed her this time it's reasonable to assume she lost nearly a half of her pure sales potential or at least 2-3k units which is enough to make a big difference.

                          • The Official Charts Company Midweek Sales Flash is in and Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds are the early frontrunners in the albums chart.

The release of retrospective collection Back The Way We Came has sparked customary excitement, and the record has already passed 20,000 sales. Of its 20,190 sales so far, 17,718 come from physical, while downloads account for 1,780 and streams contribute 692.

So far, Olivia Rodrigo’s Sour (7,505 sales) is Gallagher’s closest challenger, while the rest of the Top 5 comprises brand new entries. Garbage’s No Gods No Masters (5,075 sales) is at No.3, Jessie Ware’s What’s Your Pleasure (4,602 sales) is rejuvenated by a new edition and sits in fourth spot and Polo G’s Hall Of Fame (3,469 sales) is at No.5.

In the singles chart there’s little movement so far, with Olivia Rodrigo’s Good 4 U (30,239 sales), The Weeknd’s Save Your Tears (15,717 sales) and Doja Cat & Sza’s Kiss Me More (13,874 sales) forming a static Top 3. Galantis, David Guetta & Little Mix move 6-4 with Heartbreak Anthem (11,288 sales), while Olivia Rodrigo drops 4-5 with Deja Vu.

the cassettes are available in triple bundles from her site. I got them. Pricey, though. As is the CD / zine package (though the regular CD is on general sale). Just straightforward vinyl, 1 cassette and a CD would have done.

Both Noel and Garbage have RSD vinyl. She should have done that and then released more vinyl on general sale at a later date.

                                    • The Official Charts Midweek Sales Flash is in, and Eurovision winners Maneskin are heading for the singles Top 10.

The Italian rock band, whose winning track Zitti E Buoni peaked at No.17 in the UK following last month's triumph, have moved 12-7 with I Wanna Be Your Slave (15,628 sales).

Olivia Rodrigo's Good 4 U (49,868 sales) is still setting a searing pace at the top, doubling the sales of nearest contender Save Your Tears (24,849 sales) by The Weeknd. Rodrigo also holds at No.4 with Deja Vu (18,505 sales), behind Kiss Me More (No.3, 22,710 sales) by Doja Cat ft. Sza, while the Galantis/David Guetta/Little Mix collaboration Heartbreak Anthem (18,298 sales) is up to No.5.

Back The Way We Came - Vol 1, the retrospective collection from Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, holds a comfortable lead in the albums chart, selling 24,142 units to date, well clear of Olivia Rodrigo's Sour (12,882 sales), which continues at No.2.

The Top 5 is continued by new entries from Garbage with No Gods No Masters (No.3, 5,564 sales), Hall Of Fame (No.4, 5,212 sales) by Polo G and Jessie Ware at No.5 with What's Your Pleasure? (5,042 sales).

                                            • Beggin' is a cover of the old classic that got a reboot in the noughties
It was one of the songs they did on Italian X Factor.

It was only on Friday that the Italian rockers who won last month’s song contest became the first Eurovision winners since Celine Dion (1988) to hit the Top 10 of the Official Singles Chart with a song that wasn’t their winning song as I Wanna Be Your Slave landed at Number 7.

While that track nudges one place higher since the weekend (6), the band’s cover of Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons’ Beggin’, is now shooting up the Official Chart too, rising 56 places to Number 17 on tonight’s First Look. If its momentum continues, Måneskin will successfully secure their third UK Top 20 hit in less than a month. Their winning song Zitti E Buoni also reached the Top 20 (17) following the Rotterdam-hosted ceremony last month. See all of Maneskin’s UK chart hits to date.

                                              • 'Beggin'' must have got a manual reset. Although its streaming sales increased by almost 100% last week it is more than 3 years old so doesn't qualify for an automatic reset. Had it been reset for last week's chart it would have been at number 29.
