@Videocapper shouldn't this weeks chart be week 44 and the end date be Nov 11th also several of the albums will reach new certifications in the next several months years Such as ABBA Gold reaching 6,000,000 sold in the UK in the Spring etc.

Edit: possibly you picked up on the 8xP award because there's a second entry for the album, with the PxP entry being a duplicate listing https://www.bpi.co.uk/award/4779-2659-2
The BPI need to amalgamate both entries. But the 9xP award is the correct one.

At a guess, it will be much later in 2022. Its weekly sale is about 2,500 a week at present. The album is around 65,000 away from 3 million (10 x Platinum) so on present sales form it will be around May next year when the album reaches 3m.

Certifications are now automatically awarded by the BPI (the music trade body) once the required sales level is reached. A label can still apply for an award if they wish but none ever do so. The album is charting largely because of streaming sales which account for over 99% of its total weekly chart sales. The last sales breakdown figure I have, from just three weeks ago (the album was at number 28 that week), shows it sold a total of 2,568 during the sales week. 29 sales were on CD, 22 were downloads and the remainder (2,517 sales) were derived from streams.

The numbers are so low I thought it was about pure sales only.
it seems that streaming sales of MJ's hits are allowed to Number Ones in the UK, and to The Essential in the US.

I think the Abba release will explode all that with pure sales only this year.
