It's possible. On Thursday the other episodes of "Stranger Things" are released so it may gain again by then.

            • And finally, this week’s highest new entry could belong to Paolo Nutini. Throughout The Echoes is taken from Paolo’s newest album Last Night In The Bittersweet, and it’s pacing for a Number 23 debut. It would be the Scottish singer-songwriter’s highest-charting single since 2014’s Scream (Funk My Life Up).

              • So a fake no.1 this week as Kate's back on ACR. Only time will tell whether it can be a real no.1 - assuming things don't change before Friday.

Already back on ACR? But only after 3 weeks only?

I wondered that too when I read it in last weeks commentary, isn’t it supposed to be longer than that usually?

                    • When a track gets a reset it is subject to the rules on "decline" from day 1. Most tracks which are reset tend to still be growing and so don't usually fall back to ACR as quick as 3 weeks after being reset. In the week that RUTH was reset its streams were already declining from the previous week so the track immediately went on to week 1 (of 3) decline straight away.

                      • It’s a silly rule but let’s not forget that most of us weren’t even born when Kate Bush was last #1 on the singles chart - who would have ever thought we’d see her at #1 in 2022? Her success is deserved and has been enjoyable to watch.

Paolo Nutini's Last Night in the Bittersweet set for Number 1 album, with new entries from Shinedown, UB40 featuring Ali Campbell and Astro and more

The Scottish singer-songwriter's fourth album sees off competition from Shinedown, UB40 featuring Ali Campbell and Astro and more midweek

Paolo Nutini is on course to claim his third UK Number 1 album, with Last Night in the Bittersweet currently outselling its closest competition 4:1.

The 35-year-old Scottish singer-songwriter’s fourth studio album marks his first release in eight years and tracks to score him a hat-trick of Number 1 albums. Paolo has previously topped the Official Albums Chart with 2009’s Sunny Side Up and 2014 record Caustic Love. See Paolo Nutini’s full Official Charts history here.

Eyeing a Number 2 entry this week are Florida-formed rock group Shinedown, with their seventh studio album Planet Zero. The record could also prove a career-best and a first Top 5 hit in the UK for the band who comprise Brent Smith, Barry Kerch, Zach Myers and Eric Bass. Their last album, 2018’s Attention Attention, peaked at Number 8.

Unprecedented, the new record from British reggae legends UB40’s founding members Ali Campbell and Astro, is heading for a Number 6 debut at the midweek stage. Recorded between lockdowns, the collection of covers and original songs was due to be released last year, but was postponed following the passing of Astro in November 2021. Their last collaborative album A Real Labour of Love, recorded with former bandmate Mickey Virtue, reached Number 2 in 2018.

Elsewhere, Nick Cave’s Seven Psalms, a collection of spoken word pieces set to music recorded with long-time collaborator Warren Ellis, could provide the Australian singer-songwriter his eighth solo [eh?] UK Top 10 album to date (8). See Nick Cave’s solo Official Charts history so far here.

The release of Imagine Dragons’ Mercury – Act 1 and Act 2 collection could see the American pop-rock group enjoy their sixth UK Top 10 album, currently on course to land at Number 9.

Elvis Presley’s ELV1S: 30 Number 1 Hits collection tracks to return to the Top 20 following the release of Baz Luhrmann-directed biopic Elvis (16). The album topped the charts upon its initial release back in 2002. See Elvis Presley’s full Official Charts history here.

Northern Irish rockers Ash could see their debut album 1977 back in the Top 40 thanks to a vinyl reissue (27). Originally released in 1996, the record peaked at Number 1.

Adele’s 30 flies up 46 places to Number 28 midweek, following her BST Hyde Park performances at the weekend and, finally, 30-year-old British hip-hop artist Pak-Man eyes his first-ever UK Top 40 album with Big Pakachino, currently at Number 31.

                            • Assuming approx. 1,000 real sales, Kate is actually on around 22,000 and so is 2,500 or so up on last week so far.

                              • Music Week

It does so in part thanks to the triggering of ACR for Kate Bush's Running Up That Hill, which has enjoyed a five-week renaissance thanks to its use in the soundtrack of Netflix's Stranger Things. Bush's 1985 track slips to No.3 this week, on consumption of 21,585 units, meaning that LF System's Afraid To Feel (32,488 sales) takes the lead, shortly ahead of Harry Styles As It Was (28,097 sales). Beyoncé's Break My Soul continues to perform well in its third week in the charts, with 21,203 sales, while George Ezra's Green Green Grass (20,368 sales) completes the Top 5.

In the albums race, Last Night In The Bittersweet (30,869 sales) debuts in the top spot. The fourth studio album by Paolo Nutini knocks last week's No.1, Harry Styles' Harry's House (9,103 sales), into second place. Another new release – Shinedown's Planet Zero – enters at No.3 (7,157 sales). Ed Sheeran's = is shortly behind with 6,307 sales, while George Ezra's Gold Rush Kid (4,750 sales) completes the Top 5.

                                • So based on the MW quote, I'd guess that Kate is on around 40,000 so far without ACR (assuming 3,000 real sales) so may have increased slightly compared to last week (definitely not by 25% - which of course is irrelevant anyway).

                                      • Metallica's Master Of Puppets is now pretty big on Spotify so it should be top 20 on Friday, i think. It's following a similar trajectory to RUTH a few weeks ago. It must be just outside the 40 currently.

                                        • According to the OCC its currently at 58 (https://www.officialcharts.com/chart...-scene__36792/). However in a non-ACR chart this would probably be around 32. It has gone up 10 places since Tuesday so is likley to enter the top 40 (definitely would if it wasn't on ACR)....

I should have checked their site for updates. Doh! Thanks for that!

It's the first time this Metallica song will chart, right? Hopefully becomes their 20 TOP 40 Hit

That's what they say on the OCC. Of course when we see the Gallup Top 200 for 1986 in 6 months or so we'll get a better idea of how it sold. I believe it was in the Heavy Metal Charts though I could be wrong.

It was only an official single in France, from the looks of it. https://www.discogs.com/master/30820...ter-Of-Puppets

                                                  • I've checked and it never charted in the top 200 in the UK in 1986, even as an import.
