    • ^ looks like Beatles would be top if it was purely physical. Ball and Boe would probably be #2, as well. They are seemingly missing from MW report.

      • Surprised to see such a small gap between Taylor and Sam/Kim this week. Although they could both be trampled by Rihanna once the full streaming situation is finally factored-in.

        Comment

        • That Rihanna song is very bland. If ever there was a case of something being popular purely because of her name...
Anyone could have sung it - it has none of her distinctive qualities.

          • ^ Couldn't agree more. I was well-underwhelmed.

Drake & 21 Savage eye first collaborative Number 1 album with Her Loss

Drake & 21 Savage lead the way midweek, but is Taylor Swift ready to let go of her reign?

                By Carl Smith
Drake and 21 Savage are on course to claim their first Official Number 1 album as a duo this week with Her Loss.

The first collaborative LP from Canadian rapper and singer Drake and rapper 21 Savage leads the charge for the top spot midweek. Should it hold on, Her Loss will become Savage’s first-ever UK Number 1 album and Drake’s fifth.

Previously, Drizzy topped the chart with Views (2016), Scorpion (2018), Dark Lane Demo Tapes (2020), and Certified Lover Boy (2021). Explore Drake’s Official Charts history in full here.

But it’s by no means a done deal, as Taylor Swift fights for a third consecutive week at the top with the record-breaking Midnights, currently just behind at Number 2. Could she pull ahead come Friday?

Elsewhere in the midweek Top 5, Swedish folk duo First Aid Kit set their sights on a new entry at Number 3 with their fifth studio album Palomino. The group, comprising Johanna and Sara Söderberg, previously enjoyed Top 5 success with 2018 record Ruins (3).

Welsh actor and singer Luke Evans could claim his first-ever Top 5 album with A Song For You (4), while a 25th anniversary 2LP edition of The Prodigy’s seminal The Fat of the Land album (5) could see it return to the Top 5 for the first time in as many years. The record previously peaked at Number 1 upon its initial release in 1997.

Irish export Daniel O’Donnell looks set to score his 20th Top 10 album across a career spanning 34 years with I Wish You Well (6). Meanwhile, Japanese singer-songwriter Joji – born George Kosunoki Miller - could claim his second Top 10 album with SMITHEREENS (8).

A 25th anniversary reissue of Spice Girls’ 1997 Number 1 album Spiceworld is set for a return to the Top 20 for the first time since 1998 (12). British jazz quintet Ezra Collective eye their first-ever Top 20 entry with Where I’m Meant To Be (13), as do Liverpudlian rock outfit Crawlers with their debut mixtape Loud Without Noise (14).

Oxford-formed rock group Ride, comprising Andy Bell, Laurence Colbert, Mark Gardener and Steve Queralt, see a selection of their records return to the Top 40 midweek thanks to vinyl reissues. 1990 debut Nowhere sits at Number 20, while 4 EPs – a compilation of the band’s four extended plays on one vinyl for the first time – tracks for Number 26. Going Blank Again, the group’s 1992 second studio album, eyes a Number 28 re-entry.

British singer, songwriter and producer cavetown, born Robin Skinner, is on course for a career-best with fifth studio release worm food (21), while Bournemouth electronic producer Daniel Avery could secure his first-ever UK Top 40 album with Ultra Truth (22).

PJ Harvey could be celebrating a 12th Top 40 album this week with her B-Sides, Demos & Rarities collection (27), as Canadian singer-songwriter Devin Townsend looks set to score a third with Lightwork (30).

And finally, the legendary Barbra Streisand hopes to secure her 30th Top 40 record with Live At The Bon Soir (39).

#80 on singles may look like an error but it could actually be a result of Bonfire Night and people trying to calm their dogs.

It’s Louis Tomlinson vs Bruce Springsteen for the UK’s Number 1 album

Can Louis secure his first-ever solo Number 1? He'll have to get past the Boss first...
                          By George Griffiths
Louis Tomlinson is currently embroiled in a close race with rock icon Bruce Springsteen for the UK’s Number 1 album this week.

The One Direction alumnus is aiming for the top spot with his second solo record Faith In The Future, which takes the lead at the midweek mark. Louis’ debut solo effort Walls debuted at Number 4 in February 2020.

Can Louis secure his first Number 1 album as a solo artist? With fewer than 1,200 chart sales currently separating the Top 2, that’s up to you. Discover Louis Tomlinson’s Official Charts history in full here.

But not far behind is The Boss himself, Bruce Springsteen, with his 21st studio LP Only The Strong Survive (2).The second album of covers in Springsteen’s distinguished career, Only The Strong would become the living legend’s landmark 23rd Top 10 album in the UK. Get into The Boss’ long history on the UK charts here.

Have you trimmed up yet? The Official Albums Chart certainly has – a possible new (and very festive) entry could come from Aled Jones and Russell Watson’s Christmas With Aled & Russell (8), their third collaborative album and potential third as a duo.

Nigerian superstar Wizkid arrives this week with his fifth album More Love, Less Ego (12), which is tracking to become the Afrobeat artist’s highest-peaking album in the UK to date. 2020’s Made in Lagos peaked at Number 15.

What was that about Christmas coming early? After reaching Number 17 in its debut week, Andrea Bocelli’s family affair festive record A Family Christmas featuring son Matteo and daughter Virginia could be this week’s big gainer, breaking back into the Top 40 midweek for a possible new peak of Number 13.

American roots rock band Larkin Poe are also in for a momentous chart week; their seventh album Blood Harmony could become their first to ever reach the Official Albums Chart Top 40 (15).

French alt-pop artist Christine & The Queens returns this week with his accomplished third album Redcar les adorables étoiles (prologue) (17).

And finally, there could be two entries from rock legends Guns N’ Roses with the re-releases of Use Your Illusion 1 (31) and Use Your Illusion 2 (32). The third and fourth albums from the group, they originally charted at Number 2 and Number 1 respectively upon original release in 1991.

                            • They've mistakenly placed the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever - Music From and Inspired By on the artists albums chart. As it has one of those messy multi-artist online credits (see also Top Gun: Maverick).

Use Your Illusion is also listed as a title at 65 as both volumes are out as a super deluxe combined box set.

Following Mariah Carey’s record-breaking return to the Official Singles Chart on Friday, it looks like it’s time to get festive on the Official Albums Chart too! Leading the Christmassy charge is Andre Rieu and his Johann Strauss Orchestra, pacing for a Number 4 debut with their new LP Silver Bells, it would become the 13th UK Top 10 album for the Dutch conductor.

Following in his stead, we also have a re-entry for Kylie Minogue’s Kylie Christmas (27), and Michael Bublé’s Christmas (35) to ring the yuletide party in.

Nickelback’s Get Rollin’, the Canadian rock band’s tenth studio album and first in five years, is heading for a Number 5 debut, which would mark their sixth Top 5 placing in the UK.

The late, great David Bowie could secure yet another posthumous Top 10 collection, with the original soundtrack to new documentary film Moonage Daydream by Brett Morgen (7). The film contains previously un-released footage from Bowie’s archives and is the first film of its kind to be officially approved by Bowie’s estate.

Heavy metal band Disturbed are also heading for a Top 10 debut with their LP Divisive (8), which could become their fourth to crack the upper echelons of the chart.

We’re also looking at new personal bests for alt-pop singer-songwriter Weyes Blood with In The Darkness, Hearts Aglow (15), potentially her first Top 40, as well as Mancunian rapper Meekz’s new mixtape Respect The Come Up (16), which could be his second Top 40 collection.

Neil Young & Crazy Horse’s World Record (18) could be the fourth album by the group to reach the UK Top 40 in nearly 18 months, while country icon Dolly Parton’s greatest hits collection Diamonds & Rhinestones (22) could be Dolly’s second Top 40 album of 2022.

Ska-pop savants Madness also return this week with The Get Up!, a never-before-released live album which may also serve as their first UK chart entry in five years (28).

And finally, The Jimi Hendrix Experience have released a live recording of the legendary musician’s show at the Los Angeles Forum: April 26, 1969 which is currently heading for a Number 30 debut.

                                        • That Madness album is possibly too high as the main physical format is a DVD/CD set. It should be regarded as a video release.
