These classic countdowns don't really belong here as they are the UK charts. What's annoying is that this isn't really referenced in the show. Will Leahy in the latest edition for instance refers to it as "our chart". I've said it before but I don't really understand why the national broadcaster does this. There are Irish charts. There are probably even shows recorded from back in the day that they could repeat. Anyway they aren't interested in being reminded of this.

It's almost like they are ashamed of them! The only time they are ever referenced is when someone is talking about a single by an Irish act which didn't do much outside Ireland (Put Em Under Pressure, I Useta Lover, Maniac 2000, Galway Girl (the Sharon Shannon one!)).

I think the only reason I started posting the links was because it was a chance to hear Larry Gogan doing a chart show again (albeit not the Irish chart). When it came back with Will Leahy I never really gave it much thought and carried on putting the links up.

Revolver is back in the charts again having last appeared on its 50th anniversary in 2016 at no. 54. It also charted in 2009 along with most of the Beatles catalogue when all of the albums were remastered. On that occasion it reached no. 19.

On its original release back in 1966 it topped the album charts published in the Evening Herald newspaper, probably the only album chart in Ireland at the time.

Now re-issued in remixed form it reaches the Top 10, just as the previous 4 deluxe remix packages have.

It becomes the Beatles 12th Top 10 hit in the period from 1990 to date, where most of the Top 10s are known. There's still a long way to go to catch Christy Moore, however I would expect Bruce Springsteen to do just that next week.

I'm not sure I buy the authenticity of the 100,000 voters and a genuine Top 20. The number one song isn't even the most popular Cranberries song I don't think.
There also appears to be 20 different artists in the Top 20 - again unlikely if there were such massive voting numbers.

If I got it right there was a panel of 2FM presenters who came up with a shortlist of 60 which was what the listeners chose from. The shortlist only took one song per artist. Would agree that Zombie wouldn't be regarded by many as being better than Dreams and Linger but maybe it was the prefered choice of the gang at 2FM.

The Ultimate Irish Playlist is currently on RTE1 TV. At over 2 hours long they're stretching out the top 20 but it would appear that they will have performances of all songs where possible So far we've had

20 Hothouse Flowers - Don't Go
