  • ^Yes- Hillsong United No. 1seller, Pink on top of the multi-metric chart.

Three acts score their first top 10 sellers this week, while a legendary band continues to pad its total, thanks to the Dave's Picks series; 2019 post updated on this page.

    • Not as much action this week, though we have a split No. 1. Sammy Hagar and his band score its first No. 1 (also Hagar's first credited No. 1 seller). The 2019 post is updated on the prior page.

        • Pretty active week, with the highlight being a K-pop group that scores both its first No. 1 and top 10 album; 2019 post updated on prior page.

          • NCT is now the 2nd K-Pop act to have a #1 on Top Album Sales, following BTS who has amassed 3 chart toppers.

On the flip side, NCT falls short of the top 10 (#11) on the Billboard 200.

            • Not quite as active this week, with Album-Sales-exclusive top 10s, though a gospel act scores his highest-charting set in sales.

                • Just one title of note for 6/29, ranking No. 10 in sales (all the way down at 122 on the multi-metric chart)- it's been climbing Album Sales for the past couple of weeks. The 2019 post is updated on prior page.

                  • Just one album ranks in the top 10 on Album Sales without reaching top 10 on the multi-metric chart (a debut by Freddie Gibbs & Madlib); I updated the 2019 post on the prior page.

Apologies... I miss that last week.

                      • For those keeping track, Ed Sheeran’s No. 6 Collaborations Project sets a new low for Top Album Sales, selling 16,000 copies for the week ending August 3, 2019.

                        • I overlooked The Black Keys, though have added it to the 2019 list on the prior page. Thanks.

Yes, a new Nielsen-era low for the top seller. It's depressing, though that's the state of the format, unfortunately. These "feats" are becoming less and less noteworthy. I mean, the Stranger Things soundtrack recently debuted at No. 5 on Album Sales, but 125 on the BB 200.

Now, it's still notable when an album is the top seller, though not No. 1 on the multi-metric chart, especially when it's a decent total. So perhaps that should have remained the focus of this thread, without all the extra top 10 stuff. All that work...

                          • Personally i think the top ten sales vs. top ten sps is still of relevance and you should keep going as is.... It was no.1 on the soundtrack sales chart that week too... It is sad how low sales are as i'd much rather own my music rather than lease it from a company....

                                          • Updated the 2019 post on the prior page. These "feats" are getting even more depressing- two top 10 sellers that rank 92 and 103 on the Billboard200.

It's still noteworthy when the Billboard 200 No. 1 isn't the album that's No. 1 on Top Album Sales, but even then, more so when that title is No. 2 or even No. 3 on the Billboard 200. Anything lower, it kinda loses the luster. And we've even seen a couple of instances where the No. 1 Album Sales title ranked outside the Billboard 200 top 10.

With that in mind, these are the 10 acts, per my research, whose albums hit No. 2 on the Billboard 200, but No. 1 on Top Album Sales and were within <10,000 from No. 1 on the Billboard 200.

                                            10. Madonna- 9,000 total units (3/28/15)
                                            9. Hillsong United-8,000 total units (5/11/19)
                                            8. John Mayer- 7,000 total units (2/11/17)
                                            7. Red Hot Chili Peppers- 6,000 total units (7/9/16)
                                            6. Moana Soundtrack- 5,000 total units (1/21/17)
                                            5. Josh Groban- 5,000 total units (10/6/18)
                                            4. Imagine Dragons- 2,000 total units (7/15/17)
                                            3. Brett Eldredge- 2,000 total units (8/26/17)
                                            2. Bon Iver- 1,000 total units (10/22/16)
                                            1. Kenny Chesney- <1,000 total units (11/19/16)

The Lumineers did pretty well, selling 73,000 copies in this tracking period.

HolidayGuy, what's the lowest ranking top 10 seller you can recall? 103 sounds like a new low.

Looks like 154 (Jerry Garcia Band's Electric on the Eel) may be the low for a top 10 seller. And then 137 (Scott Stapp). We may be nearing a top 10 seller that doesn't even rank in the multi-metric top 200.

                                                  • We are now up to date on the front page.

The Beatles Abbey Road is the top seller of the week. This marks an unofficial 12th week at number one for the album, and it furthers the Beatles chart topping span on Album Sales to 55 years, 7 months and 25 days. How’s that for a group that broke up half of a century ago?

No other recording artist matches that feat in the history of either the Billboard 200 or Top Album Sales (which shares the same history prior to Dec. 2014)
