Some time ago Hanboo began a wonderful thread called Chart Histories. When he passed away in July 2014 his brother contacted a couple of people in UKMix wanting his database and legacy to continue. His original topic runs to 449 pages and 11,220 posts. It is a monumental topic and I want to try and carry on where he left off.
I have called this thread "Billboard" because, for those who don't know, I work for UKChartsPlus and produce much of the weekly data files needed for the formatting of each issue. As such, I have access to data that is a premium and since UKChartsPlus is small and doesn't always break even I feel I can't post data from the UK charts at this time. If you want to buy a subscription to UKChartsPlus then please do so as we do not make a profit as every peny goes into the fees the OCC charge us for the charts. http://www.ukchartsplus.co.uk/
Equally, I want people to also buy my reasonably priced chart books available here http://www.thechartbook.co.uk and so posting UK data is not in my own best interests!
I hope I will be forgiven for only focusing on Billboard at present.
Rules
1. Currently I am accepting only one artist per person per request. I will review this in a month and increase the limit. However for now the first artist requested only will be produced.
2. Requests outside of what I can post will be either ignored or rejected. I will be polite but be aware I am a moderator as well so I can more easily deal with abusive or discourteous comments than others can. This is a service I offer out of the goodness of my heart and it will not be abused.
3. I post when I have free time. I will post as often as I can. This may not be as quickly as you may personally want but I will not miss a request. Anybody requesting multiple times will go to the bottom of the list. If you do feel I have missed a request then please PM me (politely) and I shall look into it.
4. Do not ask me to post all Various Artists or Original Soundtrack etc entries. Pick a particular title.
5. Errors. I make errors. I will fix these if I spot them or if I'm told. So if you think I'm wrong let me know. If your right then I'll fix and you get two artists on the next go as a thank you. I have access to most of the Billboard scans and so can easily check these errors and am in the process of going through and doing a quick check myself on everything. But help is always appreciated. The TrackID is listed for each track and that should be quoted so I can more easily find what the problem is.
Charts On Offer

Types Of Search
Currently I can search by artist only. While other data appears in the reports I have not yet created a system to do Composer or Producer details. Indeed as you will see I am missing loads of these. If I have the data then it will be present as I check each artist before compiling the chart run for that artist. I will be adding a method to search for song title in the coming weeks.
I have almost 5 million chart positions listed in the database including both UK and USA data. In the main, the database is set up to produce UK details and so the USA records are secondary. That means that sometimes the title may be the way it is in the UK rather than in the USA. If that happens please let me know s I am trying to separate these to correct for title errors.
The Format
The format of what I post is shown below with text in place of actual artist details.
Chart History For "Artist Name"
Name of the chart track appeared on
Song title (By Full Artist if different to the main artist) Label (CatNumber - if null then digital) TrackID : a number to help me find this entry if you spot an error
Entry date - dd.mm.yyyy format Peak: highest position this chart run CR:-full chart run for this entry--> total weeks this entry
Entry date - dd.mm.yyyy format Peak: highest position this chart run (RE number if applicable) CR:-full chart run for this entry--> total weeks this entry
NOTE: Peak is in bold and red if a number 1, and in bold and blue if a Top 10 hit.
Re-entries
Every single time a track drops off the chart and returns it gets a new line. In the Billboard Albums of the 1950's to 1956 weeks went by with no chart being produced. As such each time a chart was printed I have taken it as a re-entry due to the time difference between weeks. Others may disagree with this but that's how I built my database.
