Hello everyone,
My name is Walter and I am from the Netherlands. I'm doing research on number one singles worldwide and I am glad I discovered this forum.
My goal is to write a book about number one singles. I want to featture as many countries as possible in it. Currently I have data from about 75 countries and counting, but most countries only the last few years. It is not difficult to find data from US, Canada, most countries in Western, Northern and Southern Europe, Australia, Japan and New Zealand. However, it becomes more difficult for other parts of the world. Off course I understand that not every country has a singles chart or has had a chart in the past. But I think there must be more information than I found myself online.
An example: it has been said that the song "No limit" by Dutch house group 2 unlimited (1993) has peaked at #1 in more than 35 countries. I only found 14 of them (being UK, Ireland, France, Belgium, Netherlands, Switzerland, Austria, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Portugal, Spain and Israel).
I speak Dutch, English, German and a little bit Spanish and French. If you have any data about number one singles in your country, please contact me, I would be very thankful.
