    Some corrections (I think)

    - Poland : 35000, 70000
    - Sweden before 2001 it was 40000, 80000 and even before (in the 80's) it was 50000 for gold
    - Greece : isn't it 25000 and 50000 ?
    - Denmark : 20000, 40000
    - Finland : 15000, 30000 (it has changed several times, check www.ifpi.fi)

Polland and Greece I got that info by e-mail, by the own recording associations

I never knew that the certs. levels had changed in Sweden :-? I would like to know when?

There are some sites that I cant understand a thing, like the one from Finland when did they changed the certs?

            For sweden www.hitlistan.se, since 01/01/2002 : 30000 instead of 40000.

            For Finland :
            >1971 : 30000
            >1975 : 25000

From the data I gathered, here are some corrections that I feel should be made:

                South Korea G 30,000 P 60,000
Philippines G 20,000 P 40,000 ("Stripped" by Christina Aguilera was given 3xPlatinum certification after 120,000 copies were shipped to stores)
                Malaysia G 15,000 P 25,000 (irregular)
Taiwan G 15,000 P 30,000 (not very sure of this one)
Singapore G 7,500 P 15,000 ("Schizophonic" by Geri Halliwell was given gold certification for sales in excess of 7,500 units)
Puerto Rico - I thought sales in Puerto Rico (and all other US Territories) are counted as part of US certifications? That's what I know...
Venezuela G 10,000 P 20,000 (somebody mentioned to me that Venezuelan certifications are the same levels as those of Central American countries; I'm not certain of this though.)
                Switzerland G 20,000 P 40,000 (I'm not sure though)
                Czech Republic G 5,000 P 10,000 (since 2002?)
                (G 10,000 P 20,000 for Domestic acts; G 1,000 P 2,000 for all singles)
                Ireland G 7,500 P 10,000
Indonesia 22xPlatinum=1.2 million (that's from a Westlife [I know, puke!] fansite that said "Coast To Coast" sold 1.2 million copies in Indonesia (certified 22 times platinum, becoming the best selling record of all time in that country.) This can be worked out to roughly G 25,000 P 50,000, with 22xP equalling 1.1 million.
                Argentina G 30,000 P 60,000 (before Jan 01, 2001); G 20,000 P 40,000 (since Jan 01, 2001)

                Some additions:
For all Central American countries (Guatemala, Honduras, Costa Rica, Panama, El Salvador, Belize and Nicaragua) G 10,000 P 20,000
Colombia G 10,000 P 20,000 (somebody mentioned to me that Colombian certifications are the same levels as those of Central American countries; I'm not certain of this though.)
They build you up so they can tear you down

Here's the full list of all certification systems that I have:
(Please feel free to make any correction)

                  Australia
                  G 35,000 P 70,000

                  Austria
                  G 15,000 P 30,000 (since January 2003)
                  G 20,000 P 40,000 (from Jan 2001-Dec 2002)
                  G 25,000 P 50,000 (until Dec 2000)

                  Belgium
                  G 25,000 P 50,000

                  Canada
                  G 5,000 P 10,000 (since ???)
                  - Because the singles chart in Canada wasn't a really big (and also regulated) one prior to 2002, singles were given levels like those of albums. Elton John's mega-successful "Candle In The Wind '97/Something About The Way You Look Tonight" was certified 19xPlatinum, signifying 1.9 million copies were shipped to Canadian stores. By today's standardized levels, it would be 190xPlatinum!

                  Czech Republic
                  G 1,000 P 2,000 (since 2002?)

                  Denmark

Argentina sales are down for the piracy. The new CD's here are sold for 25-30 pesos (10 dollars here / 1 dollar - 2.8 pesos) and are very expensive for us.
This new CD's pirates are sold by 4 pesos on the streets, less than 2 dollars!
All the tourists here are buying these CD's as hot-cakes, with only 30 dollars you can buy 6-7 Cd's!!
I bought myself the new CD's of Spears, Aguilera, Red Hot Chili Peppers, George Michael and Guns'n Roses all for 20 pesos, almost 7 dollars!

For this reason the sales certifications are lower now, only 20,000 copies for a Gold award and 40,000 for a Platinum disk.

One of the most incredibles examples of the piracy is the last Rolling Stones CD "Forty Licks". The band is the most popular here for the youngs, incredible but true. The last CD only was certified Gold here for "official" copies of 20,000, but according to the press the CD sold 80,000+ pirates copies

The same happens in Brazil. About 90% of the CD market here is piracy. Before 2000, CDs were very cheap, and everybody bought at least one a month. But when the dollar started to worth 3 reais (our currency), the sales decreased a lot. I actually don't by pirate CDs, I rather record my own, but the last original album I bough was in 2002 (Avril Lavigne's "Let Go"). :(

The problem in Brasi is that, besides piracy grows every day, the price of the CDs grows even more!!
Before 1998, the price of the CD's we're around 20 reais (our currency) and by that time, 20 Reais was like 10 dollars, or even more. But today, the price of the CD's are an average of 35 Reais, and today, 1 Dollar = 3 Reais! For you guys to have an idea, the minimun wage here is 260 reais! and actually, most of the population live with less than that... I dunno how they live!

But I always bought ORIGINAL CD's, and I dont make my own... If I download an entire CD, I'll buy it later! I have around 360 CD's and they're all original! I prefer to not have a CD than buy a fake one, understand? For now, I dont have money to buy more CD's=( the last one's I bought was in April I think (Damita Jo, Lil Kim's La Bella mafia and Massive Attack's 100th window), just in this 3 CD's I spent more than 100 Reais! Since then, I didnt bought any... this week I downloaded the entire soundtrack for KILL BILL VOL.1 and VOL.2, cuz I cant find it the VOL.1 for a better price (only 38.90 or more! and lie I said,I'm over! lol) and by now, the VOL.2 wasnt released here (the filme premiers only in October 1st, maybe thats why they didnt released the soundtrack yet)

Yes, PR = US, therefore it counts toward US sales totals. They have all [or most?] of the states in the US...they vote in elections etc...

                                              Hi pierpinto.
How did you know the level of certifications of Netherlands and Mexico?
Do you have any certifications of all albums in Mexico?
                                              Thanks.

                                                  100,000/250,000 to 75,000/150,000 in the year 2000 or 2001.

This number is much too high. The album is one time platinum, which means
                                                  it has sold 100.000 cd's.
