The Pussycats Dolls who simonf has championed now for a number of weeks live up to their prediction and top the Aussie chart. BEPs land at #6, somewhat of a disappointment I would have thought given that their tour is near. James Blunt debuts at #11 with his recent UK smash. The biggest surprise was the Bratz Rock Angelz who came from nowhere to make a respectable #15. Further down the chart we also have Fast Crew and Thirsty Merc.

Here are the new releases for this week:

    Hillary Duff Wake Up
    Silosonic Something
    Gwen Stefani Cool
    Supafly Inc. Let's Get Down
    The Pictures I Don't Care
    Babyshambles F*ck Forever

It will be interesting to see how Gwen kicks it with her 4th single from LAMB. Her previous three releases went 1 - 2 - 1, not a bad strike rate really. I see her as being the top debut at the lower end of the top 10 while Hillary will predictably score a 20-something debut. Silosonic should be no lower than 30 while Supafly will probably be around the same.

    Cheers.
She don't like that kind of behaviour.
    So thrown down your guns,
    Don't be so reckless.

They're big in the UK - but I can't quite see No. 1 for them (still hoping for a Coldplay vs Daniel Powter battle that week )

Biggest shock for me would have to be Natalie Imbruglia What on earth happened there?

Also :x at those awful dolls going top 20 - seriously, I'm sure that the Bratz dolls are out there to stop little girls from being so nice!

      50 NEW I DON'T CARE The Pictures

The Pussycat's retain their spot atop of the chart with The Veronica's bouncing back to their original debut peak of #5. As I predicted last week, Gwen Stefani enters the chart as the highest new entry at #10 with Cool. This now brings her chart peaks for the 4 singles released of LAMB to 1-2-1-10. That's awesome stuff and has cemented herself as a real solo star in Australia.

Hillary Duff predictably makes the Top 20 with Wake Up from her new album and we then have to jump down to #30 to find the next new entry which is Supafly with "Let's Get Down". The very catchy "Something" by Silosonic hits #36 while The Pictures scrape in at #50.

Next week is set to big a big-name release schedule and they are:
      Amiel Round & Round
Bon Jovi Have A Nice Day
      Mel C Better Alone
      Chloe Crash
      Gabrielle Dreams (Remixes)
      Gorillaz Dare
      Jamiroquai 7 Days
      Jade McCrae Superstar
Jesse McCartney Get Your Shine On

I think Gorillaz are guaranteed another big hit and will be the highest debut next week. I think that #5 looks good for them. Bon Jovi hasn't received as much airplay in the past with his new song and so only expect him around #20 while the same could be said for Jesse McCartney. Jade McCrae will be in the 30s along with Jamiroquai while I don't see Mel C even charting in the Top 50.

      * The person to keep an eye out for is local gal Amiel. Her career kicked off with Josh Abrahams (Puretone) on Addicted To Bass and has since guest vocalised on Mousse T's latest offering. Her largest claim to fame since Addicted To Bass was the sublime ballad "Love Song" which went Top 5 in Australia and was one of the largest selling Aussie singles of that year. She followed that up with the Top 20 hit "Obsession (I Love You)" and a couple of other minor hits. Now she's back with Round & Round and unfortunately I can't see it equaling Love Song. Not bad but not overly great either, #25.
She don't like that kind of behaviour.
      So thrown down your guns,
      Don't be so reckless.

          48 37 HERE I GO AGAIN Mario
49 35 CATCH MY DISEASE Ben Lee
50 38 COME GET SOME Rooster

Jessica debuts the highest with Bon Jovi managing to pull off shock #1 with Have A Nice Day landing at the incredibly high #8. Shock #2 and perhaps even bigger is the overwhelming success of Chloe and her song Crash. What makes this even more special is that this is a re-release. Can't say I've heard it on the radio but she must have received some good promotion somewhere...

Pete Murray clocks up another hit with his brand of accessible, pub-friendly Aussie ballads followed closely by Gorillaz with a completely different style of music. Must admit I thought Dare would be much higher.

Aussie Melissa Tkautz makes her comeback in the 30's and Sarah steps out solo close behind. Jesse shows he was a one-trick pony with a complete flop - the flopstars head up the rear with Are You Ready?

          Next week:

Kate Alexa My Day Will Come (good Aussie song)
          Axwell Feel The Vibe
          Coldplay Fix You
Les Rhythmes Digitales Jacques Your Body: Make Me Sweat (yep, the Citroen ad)
          Motorace A Little Closer
Nickelback Photograph (will they continue their good run with this average single?)
          Rihanna Pon De Replay
Armand van Helden When The Lights Go Down
          Wish Gotta Let You Know

Rihanna is the standout track here and will challenge for the #1 spot. Let's be bold and say she will hit the top next week. Coldplay should be in the Top 20 along with Nickelback. Les RhythmesDigitales has received airplay so should be Top 30 along with Motorace. Kate Alexa deserves a good placing with this song, hopefully 20 something with every chance to rise after that.
She don't like that kind of behaviour.
          So thrown down your guns,
          Don't be so reckless.
