I have attached a translation of the original article. The book seems to be more of a bio/discography than a striaght charts book.

        Google tranlsation:

A book reunites the lists of musical successes in Spain from 1959 to 2002

Who has not felt curiosity sometimes by knowing which was the fashionable song the year in which nacio '? The musical journalist Fernando Salaverri analyzes meticulously in Only successes. Year to year. 1959-2002 , the songs and the discs that were sold more in the Spanish stores during those 43 years. One is a book of nonexistent consultation until now in Spain and that will allow to recover a very significant fragment of our collective memory during these four last decades.
        By WRITING /los40.com Madrid (09/09/2005)

        --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Only successes will arrive at the stores the third week from September with the intention to become "reference book for discográficas, publishing companies, disc stores, radio transmitters, writings, artists and, in general, for all those lovers of music and their curiosities", according to their author.

Salaverri and its team of collaborator have dived during three years in the original documentary sources to compile more than 10,000 generic subjects and titles, classified year per year. Each entrance includes the authors of the compositions, the original interpreters of each disc, discográficas companies that published them, the weeks that remained each song in number one and list of sales, et cetera.

        More than 1,000 pages

The volume includes/understands more than 1,000 pages and includes twenty more important discs and the twenty interpreters in each support and every year. The book counts on a prologue in charge of Eduardo Baptist and includes commentaries of Rafael Revert and one semblanza of the author written by the journalist and musical author Carlos Toro.

The listings and musical analyses of every year are complemented with an historical memory in which they are reviewed, under epígrafe of As it was in... , the most outstanding events of each season in the scopes of the national and international policy, culture, society, sports and deaths of personalities.

Only successes. Year to year. 1959-2002 , published by the Foundation Author of the General Society of Authors and Editores (SGAE), will be sold to 35 euros.

We'll have to wait but the writer has been investigating during three years, the book has more than 1.000 pages so it'll be great information...

But rumour said it's not pure chart book, and full of articles, reviews, and photos if possible, and it's the waste of papers, for me.

And also for a new book, why doesn't it cover up to end of 2004 or the mid of 2005? Strange.

I always search artists highest positions from weekly singles charts, is this Spanish book guarantee same details as "Billboard Top 40 Hits" or "British Hit Singles" books?

Hey guys, I have just bought the book with the history of the spanish charts (33 euros); I tell you how it looks like:
It has no charts but every single and album that made the charts from 1959 to 2002, with its peak, title, week of peak, label and weeks on chart.
Itīs been done by Years and not by artists, which I find a bit difficult in case you want to follow an artist carrer.
Thanks to the book I can complete my database, which already covers 1987-2005.
One interesting thing is a chapter with all of the albums certified gold and platinum from 1979 to 2002.
If you want to know something I can look it up.
By the way, as I see there are many fans of the Divas (me included) I will look for singles, albums and certifications I still didnīt have in my database

Ooh, very cool. Can you post information on Shakira? I know that there was some information that couldn't be obtained before and I think it was on her 1998 album Donde Estan Los Ladrones? But, would you mind re-posting all of her Spanish info. from 1996-2002? I would really, really appreciate it.

Hi Davidalic! Great news about that book!

Just a detail question: apart from the week of peak, does the book also mention the week of entry for each title (just as in your data)?

NO, it doesnīt have the date of entry, just the week of peak and weeks on chart in that year...
however, two other books are going to be published, one of them with only hits by artists (like guinness style I guess) and a book of all the #1s with photos of the sleeves.

okay one more question... Is it based integrally on sales charts (not radio)? Is the Afyve chart used since it has been introduced?

Thank you for the Shakira information. I am surprised that those are the only singles that charted. Just to clarify - this is the singles sales chart and not the airplay chart, correct?

of course itīs only based on sales.yes, afyve started in march 1986; before that they use other magazines;in some years they use even 3 magazines. Itīs in 1988 when they use Afyve only, leaving other sources behind.
In my next message I will write the sources

If I find any other Shakira single I will tell you; I still have to update my database, especially 1999-2001 period
Itīs only sales. The airplay charts I have goes from 2003 til today; Before that year I only have the #1s in the top 40 radio.

Itīs very difficult to search for an artist in this book; itīs displayed by years, not by artists, so It will take some time until I can find every single or album
