Thank you, Davidalic. Impressive as always.

Davidalic, just a question, have you prepared charts histories for spanich acts?. For instance, I would like to know about peak positions and weeks on charts for Dyango, Camilo Sesto, and Raphael and Nino Bravo, four of the best singers ever, in my opinion.

I don't have complete charts for the 60s, 70s or 80s so I only do it like this; soon I will get the complete (or almost complete) afyve charts from 1987-88-89-90-91,which are the ones I still don't have complete.

How many #1 did Madonna had in Spain already?

Dyango, Camilo Sesto and Raphael had huge hits in the 90s.... at least in Latin America

When is Hard Candy going to be certified? How much do you think it has sold in Spain?

I would like to know also who do you think has sold more copies of their last albums: Amaral, Estopa or El canto del loco? Amaral is certified only platinum, but their chart run is much better: all the summer in the top 3.

It's been around top 20 and top 30 most of the time (1.500 copies for week?). I would say it is around 50.000, but I don't understand why don't they certify it gold. Maybe they are waiting for the tour to come to certify platinum?

I was going to mention that placing four hits side by side at the same time in the singles chart must be rare - but, thinking back to a couple of years ago, Michael Jackson must have matched and beaten that a few times! I think he might have occupied as many as eight positions in a row towards the middle of the series of reissues......

                                  Thanks Davidalic!!
Strange to see that only two singles from the 80s get to N1!
And surprise to see song as WIFLFAG Love Profusion and Nothing Fails to reach the top!
During the 80s every hit had a commercial release as a single and so many competition to reach the top; during the 90s a few and now none. :x

                                      Gracias Davidalic, impresionante información.

I remember reading this back in july or august 2006, if I remember correctly. As a Queen fam, I can´t avoid noticing that they spent like 13 weeks with their 1992´s album "Live at wembley ´86" between october, november, and december of 2006 (it re-entered at #14), and their recent "Queen Rock Montreal" was at least 15 weeks inside the top (peaked at #35). Also both "Queen on fire" and "Platinum Collection" charted during a couple of weeks during the last few weeks of 2006 and the first few ones of 2007. Does that mean that they have now surpassed Mike Oldfield as the international band with most weeks on the album charts?. That would be amazing. By my reckoning, they spent at least as many as 545 weeks. So they should be ahead of Ana Belén too.

Gracias. Just a last question (I think I have asked for too much this week): how far are Queen from the top in the singles lists you posted (both based on "most weeks" and "points-based")?. Besides, what charts did you use?. The one based only on sales or "Los 40 principales"?.

I think that Queen spent 222 weeks on the charts overall. All I know is that they had two strong number ones: "Another one bites the dust" and "Five live ep" (during 3 weeks).

In my archives, I have that Queen achieved 6 number one singles in "Los 40 principales":

                                            -Another one bites the dust
                                            -Radio Ga-Ga
                                            -A kind of magi
                                            -I want it all
                                            -Innuendo
                                            -Heaven for everyone

I don´t know if they are correct.

                                              Hi Hur.

Los 40 Principales is different than the official chart.

For instance Too Much Heaven by the Bee Gees was 8 weeks number 1 in los 40 principales and only one or 2 weeks in the sales chart.

                                              Davidalic is the expert.

                                                Hello Jcguzman. How are you?.

Thank you for the information. So the official charts is the one purely based on sales. The reason why I give "Los 40 principales" such a big importance is because I have the feeling that spanish never "embraced" the single format the same way they did with the albums, in terms of sales. So a chart based on airplay would mean much more in such context, which is a bit like in USA where points are given to each act depending on how good their airplay is (and this is since singles sales declined over there).

Reading the stats posted by Davidalic, it would look like the Bee Gees and the Rolling Stones are the strongest contenders to beat the Beatles (even if I think that the fab four sold more singles). Certainly the three biggest bands in the single format (in spite of Depeche Mode and U2, who achieved a good share of their points once real sale had started dropping).

Jcguzman, is your name Juan Carlos?.

                                                  Hi Hur.

My name is Juan Cristobal. The book I have from Spain is pretty good.Sales and airplay are totally different sometimes. In the 70S singles sales were strong.

I think Beatles Elvis and Michael Jackson plus Madonna sold more singles than the Bee Gees and the Stones.

The Bee Gees sold more singles than the Stones even this fantastic group has more entries.

In the disco era where The Bee Gees Ruled sales were massive.

UP TO 71 BEE GEES had sold 22 million singles and this was before the disco hits.

Abba has sold tons of singles and Queen specially in the UK.In the US I think Queen have huge sellers too.

Best Hur and keep in touch.
